1 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
1.1 GENERAL
All the instructions which are stated on the devices and/or detailed in their user manuals must
be followed.
Never use the classifier and circuit in which it is integrated for anything other than its intended
purpose - refer to the user manual and/or data plate.
The user and assembly manual must always be available close to the equipment.
The installation may only operate in accordance with any regulatory requirements for safety
and according to the accident prevention rules applicable in the factory. The factory's safety
manager will be responsible for compliance with the accident prevention rules as well as
correct use of the installation.
If the installation or part of it has to temporarily operate without safety equipment (for example
during maintenance), it is absolutely essential to be certain that nobody is in the danger zone.
If anyone sees people exposed to danger they must immediately press the emergency stop.
If the installation is operating, access may only be authorised after consulting the operator and
the equipment has been shut down completely. Any mechanical or electrical intervention must
only be carried out by specialists. A qualified person will be responsible for checking the work
performed. The operator is required to prohibit unauthorised people accessing the installation.
The operating instructions refer exclusively to use of the installation in accordance with its
intended purpose, as defined in the order. The operating instructions do not take into account
situations caused by local conditions or specific cases unknown by the manufacturer.
Therefore, the user must ensure that operations take place in total safety or stop the
installation until measures guaranteeing operation without danger have been taken in
agreement with the manufacturer, or other competent authorities.
A fundamental condition is that any operation, such as: transport, installation, start-up,
maintenance and repairs, is carried out or supervised by qualified staff.

The following indications do not replace nor restrict the previous instructions.
1.2 STAFF
The installation's start-up and maintenance should be carried out by qualified staff who are
familiar with all aspects of the system.
If the safeguards provided are removed, the equipment is not used correctly. When running, this
equipment is dangerous due to bare parts or moving parts. Its incorrect use may damage the
classifier and place staff in danger.
Qualified people are people who, based on their training, their experience as well as their
knowledge of regulations and guidelines for accident prevention have been considered capable,
by the health and safety manager, of recognising possible dangers and avoiding them.
Knowledge of first aid and qualified first-aiders are essential.
The prohibition of using unqualified staff is detailed in DIN, VDE 0105 or IEC 364.
Ensure that the operating voltage corresponds to the specifications stated on the devices' data
plates.
Do not carry out any intervention on the installation if it has not been made safe by removing
the power fuses or by locking the master switch. Any accidental starting must be excluded.
The couplings or screw connections may not be closed or opened when live.
The assembly and electric cabling may only be done by qualified staff, who knows the
standards, regulations and local directives.
During any intervention on the equipment, it is essential to comply with the safety instructions
and accident prevention directives, as well as local, health and safety committees'
recommendations.
Installation, cleaning, maintenance and repairs may only be done when the machine is shut
down. The equipment will then be protected by a device preventing its accidental start-up.
Only enter the classifier if the main motor and ventilation have been locked beforehand. In fact,
the single air inlet can make the selection cage rotate at considerable speed. In addition, the
material feed system must be secured (for example: the bucket elevator, airslides, etc.).

Before commissioning, it must be ensured that all the protections are in place, secured and
operational. Likewise, it must be checked that nobody is in the installation or its safety area.
MAGOTTEAUX cannot foresee all the uses for which the classifier could be used. In addition,
MAGOTTEAUX is not in a position to assess the classifier's interference with other components
in the installation. A manager will have to check this point in particular.
• training of operators in accordance with the system's operation and compliance with
safety instructions.
1.5 OPERATION
Do not increase the classifier's speed beyond the maximum stipulated by the manufacturer
without their prior written approval, non-compliance results in cancellation of the guarantee on
the entire machine.
The installation must operate with all its safety protections and devices. The latter must not be
disabled or used for any purpose other than that initially assigned to them. Likewise, their
settings are not to be modified,
The operator must immediately inform his superior in the event of an anomaly (for example
noise, vibration or any other abnormal phenomenon). This applies to the entire installation
whether it is the mechanical, electrical system or the superstructure.
During operation, the danger zone will be marked out and secured or monitored so that no-one
can enter it without being detected.
In addition, the control and shutdown equipment will always be within arm's reach.
1.6 START-UP
Note: it is MANDATORY that all the start-up sequences (after normal shutdown, after crash-
stop, after emergency stop, etc.) set up by the user (together with MAGOTTEAUX if necessary)
are attached to this document.
• no person and/or object are in the work zone, nor the danger zone;
• there are no visible defects to the installation;
• instrumentation and alarm devices are operational.

1.7 SHUTDOWN
Note: it is MANDATORY that the entire shutdown sequences (normal shutdown, crash-stop,
emergency stop, etc.) set up by the user (together with MAGOTTEAUX if necessary) are
attached to this document.
Before leaving the control station and/or installation, the operator must be certain that the
equipment is shut down.
In case of danger, the installation must be stopped immediately by activating the emergency
stop.
After an emergency stop, the installation may only be restarted if the cause of the fault has
been eliminated.
