filing documents, and managing inventory. A church administrator may also lead staff meetings, interact
with parishioners, and schedule events. Someone in this job position is typically a member of the
congregation or ministry. Additional qualifications often include a bachelor’s degree as well as
administrative experience.
Church administrators take on many roles in a church’s daily operations. The scope of a church
administrator’s duties often depends on the size of the church they are working with. With
churches that host a larger congregation, their duties may have a specific focus, such as church
communications, while their coworkers cover the other tasks needed for the church’s
operations. In smaller congregations, the church administrator may be one of the few
employees of the church, so they may take on a more general role.

Office management
The bulk of a church administrator’s work is in office management. These duties can include:
