Overview
Highland Outdoor Adventures is a company that primarily hire and sell winter and summer
adventure equipment as well as a range of other clothing and accessories. The company is also
nearby many ski and snow board runs, lochs, and coasts, amazing locations where their products can
be used.

They currently use Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube to advertise their location, products, and
services and would now like a dedicated app to help promote their business further.

The first phase of the app will advertise the products and services the company provides, the
location and contact details of the company, and encourage users to register to be sent monthly
emails. All to advertise the company and grow their business.

End Users
There has been an increase in popularity in the sports the company provides equipment for
therefore they expect a lot of new customers. The company would prefer to try and appeal to a large
and unspecific range of potential end users so the app should be made for a fairly general audience.

The only specifics about the end users would be at least a slight interest in adventure type sports.

End users would likely be adults as children would be unlikely to participate in adventure sports
without a guardian who would buy or hire equipment for them.

Since the company is based in Scotland, it’s reasonable to assume a majority of customers’ native
language will be English however the app could allow users the option to change the language of the
app. The languages provided would be some of the most common languages spoken amongst
Scotland’s tourists.

The app should also provide options for potential end users with disabilities. Such as a text to speech
feature for the visually impaired, subtitles on videos for those who are hard of hearing, and a feature
that would change the fonts and/or theme of the app for those with dyslexia. The app could also
include accessibility information about the company’s location.

End users could also likely vary in terms of technological literacy. Young people would likely find
using apps to be fairly easy whereas older people who aren’t as used to technology would need
things to be further explained. The app should indicate clearly what the user is supposed to do and
how they can do it. We could also include features that allow the user to increase text size.

Thankfully, the app’s reception is mostly positive. A majority criticisms are regarding minor design
choices that can be changed. There has also been a request for multi-language support that should
be taken into consideration.
