Writing Task 1: Describing Maps

The two maps below show an island, before and after the construction of some tourist
facilities.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make
comparisons where relevant.

The first map shows the island before construction and the second illustrates the same island
after redevelopment as a tourist site.

It is clear that some significant changes have been made to the new island. After the
redevelopment, people are able to access the island by boats, other tourist facilities emerge
such as the addition of suitable accommodation for the influx and all the coconut palm trees
are preserved.

As can be seen from the new island, a wharf has been built on the southern coastal line.
Sailing boats create gateways to the site, whilst the pier is connected with a newly built
reception to its north via the vehicle track. And behind the reception, you could find an
adjoining restaurant to cater for the needs.

On either side of the reception centre the accommodation areas are located. To be more
specific, there are 6 holiday resorts to the west and 9 to the east and are all linked via
footpath to meet the island's convenient size as it is only about 250 meters in length.
Navigating the footpath to the west coast, the visitor is met with ample swimming space.
