The passive voice is used


The passive voice is used to show interest in the person or object that
experiences an action
We can use the passive to describe how a process is done.
These sentences explain the process of
1-A script is written making a movie.
2-A budget is made
Notice how we only mention the ACTION
3-The staff is hired
that is done and NOT the PERSON who
4-Camera crews are brought in DOES the action.
5-Make-up artists are booked

In the active voice the doer is the most important thing and we mention it first for
example:
The writer writes a script.
The studio makes a budget.

In the passive voice the action is the most important thing.

A budget is made by the studio

You can omit the doer completely in the passive voice.

Active voice

You must wash the rice before you cook it. You may add creamer to the coffee

You have to present your business plan on Wednesday. You should add the salt when the fritos are still hot.

Passive Voice

The rice must be washed before you cook it. Creamer may be added to the coffee.

The business plan has to be presented on Wednesday. Salt should be added when the fritos are still hot.
