5 Types of barriers in communication

 Physical Barrier
It’s effect both verbal and non-verbal communication. These barriers are present around us
in the environment, such as noise, technical problems, etc.
 Language Barriers
It’s also known as linguistic barriers. A small variation in language can lead to colossal
misunderstanding between people.
 Lack of Focus and Eye Contact
It may lose the interest of listeners or audience. Lack of focus can be due to any reason, such
as improper sleep and stress.
 Emotional Barriers
The emotions in a person determine the ease and comfort in which he or she can
communicate. It arises to a lack of emotional intelligence.
 Attitude Barriers
It can arise due to overconfidence, poor management, lack of motivations and behaviour.

Tips How to Avoid Those Barriers.

 Suitable Time
Always check that the current time is suitable for the communication or not. Sometimes,
talking to a person who is under the weather or sad will be two-way communication.
 Be aware of tone, language, and pitch
The voice we use should be audible for the listener. It should not harm the other feelings.
 Focus on Learning Skills
Listening skills are essential both for the sender and listener. Always try to communicate
with a positive attitude, patience, and attention.
 Maintain Eye Contact
Proper eye contact depicts the interest and attention of a person towards others. It is an
essential skill for effective communication.
 Do Not Focus on Distractions.
Communications become better with less distractions. Do not focus on the people passing
by, the opening and closing door, and mobile phone. Such distractions can affect our
attention and presence from the conversation.
