Internet Services allows us to access huge amount of information such as text, graphics, sound and
software over the internet. Following diagram shows the four different categories of Internet
Services.

There are various Communication Services available that offer exchange of information with

Web Services
Web services allow exchange of information between applications on the web. Using web services,
applications can easily interact with each other.
WWW is also known as W3. It offers a way to access documents spread over the several servers over
the internet. These documents may contain texts, graphics, audio, video, hyperlinks. The hyperlinks
allow the users to navigate between the documents.

This mode of conferencing connects more than two locations through Multi-point Control Unit
(MCU).
A domain name can be any combination of letters and numbers, and it can be used in combination of the various
domain name extensions, such as .com, .net and more.
An Internet Protocol (IP) address is the unique identifying number assigned to every device
connected to the internet. IP address is a string of numbers separated by periods. IP addresses are
expressed as a set of four numbers — an example address might be 192.158.1.38. Each number in
the set can range from 0 to 255.
About Browsing
Browsing is an act of looking for information and reading about a specific topic with a particular goal
or aim in mind.
Browsing is a focused search, hence faster and less time-consuming than surfing. People will have a
pre-defined plan chalked out in their minds before they browse. It makes it easier to locate the exact
information in less time if they use browsing.
What is Surfing?
On the World Wide Web, surfing means to move from one Web page to another, usually in an undirected
manner. When surfing, the user typically visits pages based on what interests him/her at the moment. Surfing
is generally time consuming than browsing.
