JESUS CHRIST THE FIRST ADVOCATE AND OUR PERFECT EXAMPLE AS A

CHRISTIAN LAWYER
As Christian lawyers, we believe that Jesus Christ is the Ultimate example of what it means to
be an advocate. He intercedes for us before God. As Christian lawyers, we are called to be
advocates for justice and righteousness in the world. How can we be an advocate in a way that is
consistent with of faith. To achieve this, we ought to look at Jesus Christ our perfect example as
Christian lawyers in our advocacy skill.
1. JESUS AS THE ULTIMATE ADVOCATE (John 2:1, Rom 8: 34, Heb7:25)
The bible made us to understand that Jesus Christ is the Ultimate advocate for humanity,
interceding on our behalf before God the father. As Christian lawyers, we can look to
Jesus as a model for how to approach litigation and advocacy. He demonstrated love,
compassion, and a commitment to justice, even in the face of oppression and persecution.
We as Christian lawyers should strive to emulate his example in all that we do.

2. JESUS AS AN ADVOCATE FOR THE MARGINALIZED (Luke 4: 18-19, matt

25:35-36)
Throughout the ministry of Jesus Christ, he consistently demonstrated a concern for the
marginalized and oppressed. In Luke 4: 18-19. He declares that he has come to “proclaim
good news to the poor… to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and the recovery of sight
for the blind, to set the oppresses free.” In matt 25;35-36, he says that when we care for
the least of these, we are caring for him. As Christian lawyers, we should be particularly
attentive to the needs of those who are marginalized and vulnerable, using our skills and
resources to advocate for their rights and dignity.
3. JESUS AS AN ADVOCATE FOR TRUTH AND RIGHTEOUSNESS (john 18:37,
psalm 89:14)
In addition to his concern for the marginalized, Jesus was also a champion of truth. In
psalm 89; 14, it was evident that “righteousness and justice are the foundation of God’s
throne.” As Christian lawyers, we should be committed to upholding the truth and
promoting justice in all that we do. We should seek to use our skills and resources to
advocate for causes that are consistent with God’s values of truth and righteousness.
In conclusion, Jesus Christ serves as an example for Christian lawyers in advocacy. He
demonstrated love, compassion, and a commitment to justice particularly for the marginalized
and oppresses. He was also a champion of truth and righteousness, seeking to uphold God’s
values in all that he did. As we seek to follow his example, may we use our skill and resources as
lawyers to propagate the kingdom of God here on earth, always mindful of the example that
Christ has set before us. Shalom!
