Self-Care Plan

After you complete the self-care survey (Self Care Survey) and obtain the results, please

complete the plan below, and submit the results and the completed plan to Blackboard by the

assigned date listed on the Tentative Schedule above. Please be realistic as you can as this plan

will be revisited throughout the semester.

Please indicate how you will provide self-care in the following areas:

Physical I will focus on eating healthy foods, engaging in exercises for


example jogging. I am also going to maintain a good sleep
hygiene.
Psychological I am going to listen to inspiring and uplifting music. I have also
selected podcasts that I will be listening to every morning.
Emotional I will invest in development of supportive and loving friendships.
Doing something I enjoy for example going to the movies once a
week.
Spiritual I am not going to start my daily routine without praying. I will
engage in self- reflection sessions to reflect on the positive
achievements in my life.
Relationships I will interact and connect with my colleagues and create a better
working environment. I am also going to schedule visits to my
family homes.
Workplace/School At the workplace, I will take breaks to meditate in between major
tasks and also communicate freely with my superiors.
Overall Balance I will keep a journal and diary that will help me to differentiate
between personal life and work.

What might get on the way of meeting your self-care needs/plan above?

Accepting changes in life when I am used to a specific routine is challenging.

Some colleagues can decline in helping you to achieve your self-care goal.

The self-care steps can be overwhelming because there are a lot responsibilities I am

supposed to attend to.

What negative strategies do you need to avoid?


Self -doubt and procrastination are the negative strategies that I need to avoid in order to achieve

my self-care goal.

If you implement your plan, how might you feel?

Implementing my self -care plan will help me in maintaining a healthy lifestyle

psychologically, spiritually, physically, and emotionally. I am positive that I will achieve an

overall balance because of the above self-care steps that I have taken.

What was it like to assess and plan for your self-care?

Planning for my self-care was the best experience as it helped me to identify personal

strengths and weaknesses.

As a counseling student, why might it be important to focus on self-care?

Focusing on self-care as a counseling student will booster my creativity and help me to

build a good connection with clients.
