Course Learning Objectives


CLO 4 – Develop skills to be effective in a variety of interviews.
• Practice responding to interview questions.
• Design structured interview questions for positions relevant to your program.
• Develop targeted responses to interview questions.
• Interact with diverse groups in order to hone interviewing skills.
Assignment
Start this early. This group activity takes place over 2 or 3 weeks. It includes online learning, review of textbook or class material, and self-
reflection.
Outputs
1. A list of 5 – 6 possible interview questions for an assigned job posting. (Remember: You are a JOB Seeker, NOT an HR Recruiter!)
2. Example answers for 3 of those interview questions.
Assignment Activities
1. Review class presentation, text and online learning about interviews.
Textbook:
• Chapter 8 - Before the Interview.
• Chapter 9 - During and After the Interview.

2. With your group, brainstorm 5 possible interview questions specific to the job posting assigned to your group.
3. With your group, discuss which competencies/skills will be evaluated through these questions.
4. Individually, spend 15-20 minutes writing an answer to each question. Be brief and concise.
5. Discuss your answers with your groupmates.
6. With your group, discuss which of the answers are best for each question.
7. Write a 1-2 paragraph group reflection about what you learned through this activity.
8. Submit your group reflection containing 5 questions, the best response for 3 of those questions, and your group reflection.

DUE: 11:59PM Sunday June 11, 2022.


Your final group submission must include:
• A 1-2 paragraph group reflection
− How did you work together? How and why did you decide who does what? What worked well, what didn’t? What are some things
in retrospect that you could have done differently?
• The 5 interview questions you brainstormed and the competencies/skills that were evaluated through those questions.
• The best interview response for 3 of the questions you brainstormed.
• Include the job posting assigned to your group.
** NOTE:
• It is your responsibility to coordinate with your group and connect outside of class time.
• Your group assignment must be uploaded to Blackboard by the due date.

• You may NOT book an appointment with CFB staff in GBCareers for the purposes of this assignment.

• Unsubstantial assignments will be returned to complete for revision and a passing grade.

Successful completion of this and all class assignments is required to pass the Work Experience Prep Course.
Completion of the Work Experience Prep Course is required to register for a Work Term.
