Hi, in your very first step in becoming a doctor one must take an exam that 8 9 10 11 12 13 14

would tell what school will you be in for the next 4 years. Tada! It’s the NMAT.

I’m assuming NMAT is looming around the corner for you to actually find
some blogs for the exam. I hope this article helps you to ace the exam. 22 23 24 25 26 27 28

As much as possible I won’t repeat the cliché tips that you probably heard but
rather I will repeat some few things that really is IMPORTANT FOR YOU.
NMAT is divided into two parts, part 1 on the morning and the other on the
afternoon.

PART 1 OF NMAT

Tip #1: Start answering where you’re most confident with. People mostly will
follow the sequence of the exam but I suggest don’t. NMAT IS TIME
PRESSURED, the goal here is to get many correct answer as possible. So you
can’t afford to waste time.

Tip # 2: Have the practice set that will be given to you by CEM printed then
photocopy it and answer repetitively. DON’T MEMORIZE BUT
UNDERSTAND. By doing this, you would be familiarize with the concept and
pattern of the exam. In my NMAT few questions from the practice set were
repeated. So that’s an advantage already since you’re familiarize with it.

Tip #3: Practice with time, please do this during your practice sessions. Get a
stopwatch and answer. Because on the actual exam you’ll be surprise how time
goes so fast. But always Aim for less than the given time.

Tip #4: In perceptual acuity and inductive reasoning. Know the tricks and
techniques. Its important you see those small details. Some of the relationship
includes odd-even number, placement, longer-shorter, smaller-bigger,
outlines, and pairing. In your practice session, take time to see those details
(important!).

Tip #5: For verbal part I don’t have much to say. If you read books and watch
movies. Most likely you’ll be ok! Though for analogies know their relationship
and practice reading with full comprehension.

Tip #6: Math? I’ll have a link to an already answered notes from practice set.
Then i’ll let you rationalize. Click me for the notes.

That will be all for part 1

PART 2 OF NMAT

Part 2, is pretty intense with 2 hours and 30 min for 50 items each sub-test.
There’s 4 sub-test. I’ll walk you through for each sub-test.

Tip #7: Biology! You should be good at this. In my NMAT there were annoying
question like the paragraph questions. It’s better to study all subtopic in
biology just to be safe. In each NMAT they change to what topics are in focus.
During my NMAT it was mostly ecology, in previous NMAT its genetics.
However, the basics like the cells and about human biology will always be
there.

Tip #8: For Physics, Know all the formula. This is crucial as most questions
will revolve on those formulas. Like in biology, the physics part will vary on
what topic is in focus. During my NMAT it was mostly about light physics.

Tip #9: Chemistry, this will only have a combination of organic chemistry and
inorganic chemistry. The variation of the two will cover most of the exam.
During my NMAT it was mostly organic chemistry with few inorganic
chemistry. There was biochemistry too but few. So it’s safe to say that
biochemistry is seldom in NMAT but still study it you’ll never know where they
would focus.

Tip #10: As for social science we may have some stock knowledge left in us
from high school and college but somehow that would do. Still I read some few
reviewers but in the actual exam none of the lessons I studied were helpful. To
my conclusion, social science is a common sense exam. You need to read the
question carefully and pick what’s the most appropriate. Though for this sub-
test, the questions were mostly in paragraph form. That’s gotta hurt in your
precious time.

Tip #10: Set Goals! Aim higher than what you need. BELIEVE YOU’LL DO
GOOD AND PRAY.

Here are some files for part 2. I got this from another blog (Sorry I can’t
remember from where I got it so credits to the owner!). Click me!

Note 1: The score is expressed on standard score. 200 is the lowest and 800 is
the highest

Note 2: Here’s my sequence in answering the exam.

1. Perceptual acuity
2. Inductive reasoning
3. Quantitative (fundamental operations)
4. Linguistics
5. Quantitative (word problems and data interpretation)

Note 3: Time frame for each sub-test,

Linguistics and quantitative for 50 min each
Perceptual acuity and inductive reasoning for 40 min each. But if your neurons
are on fire you should answer perceptual and inductive for 30 min each.

Note 4: Mirror image. If you’re struggling with this. The technique is don’t have
it check one by one to the original image but find the difference in the choices
then voilà! But this is time consuming but at least you’re pretty sure you got
the correct answer.

Note 5: For part 1 I really need to emphasize this but PRACTICE!

Note 6: Each subtest is 40 items and the whole part 1 is for 3 hours.

Note 7: In answering letter series here’s the technique. Write the following…
ABCDE
EFGHI
…. by 5 till Z. You’ll find their relationship easily.
For number series just add, subtract, and multiply. So practice fast math
operations!

That’s all I can share with you. As for me I got a pretty decent score that i’m
happy with. I hope you ace that exam and get a good percentile. If you have
questions, feel free to ask in the comment section.

Good luck future Doctor!
