an increase in learning outcomes after utilizing YouTube as a learning media? And
how big the impact and how the learning process using YouTube media?. The
research method used to find the effect of certain treatments on others under
controlled conditions. The experiment was actually carried out. This study used a
pretest-posttest control group design. This design uses a pretest, before being given
treatment and given a posttest after. This study consist of 35 students of SMP VII Al-
ikhlas class, Bekasi city as the subjects with the selection of respondents was random,
data collection techniques include interviews, giving tests before and after treatment,
and documentation, data analysis technique uses assumption test (classic), including
homogeneity and normality tests, the data was then processed by using a paired data
sample test. The results showed that there was an increase of 12.2941. The use of
YouTube improved listening skills. Utilizing YouTube included looking for
material/information, watching and listening to material, analyzing and distributing
material to students and teachers. The implications of this research are teachers
could try to provide the widest possible time and space for students to improve their
abilities independently, including using YouTube in learning. Consistent evaluation
and supervision is the key to the success of learning using YouTube media.

Study 8, Yaaqob, A., et al. (2021) conducted, the problem in this research is what is
the impact of using YouTube and video podcast on students’ listening
comprehension?. The subjects in this study were consist 21 male and 19 female
students aged 10 years old for sample. The data was collected by three phases which
are identification, intervention and evaluation, which was conducted within 8-weeks
period. The data analysis method in this study is all the findings from the pre and
post-tests were analyzed using paired sample t-test while the qualitative data were
analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings of this study revealed that there was a
statistically significant impact of the YouTube and video podcast on the students’
listening comprehension. The listening scores improved significantly after the
intervention. The findings were also supported by the classroom observation whereby
students were seen to be more involved in their learning.

Similarly, in research conducted on university students show that there was a

significantly positive effect of listening skill. For example study 3, Shafwati, D., et al.
(2020) conducted, the problem in this research is what is the influence of YouTube
videos as a listening learning media?. The research approach used is quantitative pre-
experiment, the subjects in this study were 23 undergraduate students of English
Department, University of Lampung. The data collection method in this study used are
listening Test and questionnaire. The data of the tests results were analyzed using
SPSS by firstly inputting the scores to Excel spreadsheet. The overall scores of both
pre-test and post-test were calculated to see the significance of the use of YouTube
videos. For the questionnaire responses, the data was given in the form of chart and
percentage of different responses of each item. The results of the study prove that
there is significant influence of using YouTube videos toward students’ listening
comprehension. Regarding students' perception toward the use of YouTube videos, a
survey in the form of a questionnaire was also distributed to all 23 students. The
implications of this research are considering the positive result of YouTube videos in
listening class, so the teachers can also apply the use of YouTube videos in their
listening class or other classes such as speaking class in order to make the learning
and teaching process run smoothly. For the further researcher, it is also can concern
the students’ perception toward the use of Youtube video in other classes such as
speaking class.

does the application of YouTube videos affect students' listening comprehension
performance?, and Can the application of YouTube videos improve students' listening
comprehension performance?. The research approach used study was experimental
research (quasi-experimental with non-equivalent control group design) The subjects
in this study were total sampling technique because all populations used are all first
semester students of English education at Mandalika Education University, Indonesia.
The data collection the researchers used a listening test as the instrument. Data
collected were then analyzed by using SPSS 19 and used t-test to compute the data
derived from two samples. The author concludes that the application of YouTube
videos has a positive and significant effect on students' listening comprehension
performance. The results of the study also showed that students felt more interested
and motivated to learn to listen to understanding by using YouTube videos as learning
media during the learning process in the classroom. The implications of this research
is based on the research results, the implication that I can find is that more and more
students will use YouTube videos as learning media because based on the research
results, the application of YouTube videos has a positive and significant impact on
students' listening comprehension performance.

Study 6, Damronglaohapan, S., et. Al. (2013) conducted, the problem in this research

students improve their listening skills. Moreover, movies can help the learners to
improve listening skills because they provide learners with practice listening to
different forms of intonation and pronunciation. More than 60% agreed that they
understood intonation and pronunciation in all movie clips. The implications of this

to what copyright restrictions allow. For example, after the students had finished their
study for 5 weeks, the Rat Race clip was no longer available on YouTube due to
copyright infringement laws.

Study 7, Farag, S. M (2020) conducted, the problem in this research is what is the
effect of using YouTube to students’ Listening Skills among Non-Native speakers? The
research approach used study was quantitative, the subjects in this study were consist
of 144 students through the stratified sampling method from non-Arabic speaking
students at the International Islamic University Sultan Abdas. The data was collected
by using a self-administered questionnaire and survey questionnaire that consisted of
four parts. The data was analyzed by using screening process of the questionnaires.
According to the result in the Table, 7 opinion of students t-test coefficient is 10.391
and the P-value is 0.000 which is less than 0.05 (i.e. P<0.05). This means that these
variables are statistically significant at 5% significant level. The overall summary of this
regression outcome concerning the coefficient of using YouTube has a significant
influence on listening skills. The implications of this research are the teachers could
try to provide the widest possible time and space for students to improve their
abilities independently, including using YouTube in learning. Consistent evaluation
and supervision is the key to the success of learning using YouTube media.

Study 9, Jawad, A. S. H. (2021) conducted, the problem in this research is what extent

the English Language for the academic year 2019/2020 at Kufrah Faculty of Arts and
Science- Benghazi University. The authors chose a random sample from the
population of study composed of (60) students for the survey study. In this study, the
authors used a quantitative method as a data collection, and this design was gathered
through a questionnaire which is considered as one of the appropriate and reliable
tools that supply us with valid data. Furthermore, this study needs to be conducted
via classroom observation to investigate the correlation between YouTube and
listening skills to provide us with more validity to the finding, but due to many reasons
especially possibilities and time which prevent us from using such means. In this
study, the authors have relied on charts, percentages, and descriptive statistics to
analyze and interpret data. Data Analyses and discussions this one is mainly
concerned with the analyses and discussions of the students' questionnaires. The
researchers conclude that used one tool, the questionnaire, which was helping to
check students' perceptions of using YouTube as an academic tool. From what is
discussed through the results. The authors can confirm two main things: the positive
attitude of EFL learners towards the use of YouTube in improving students' listening
skills. Therefore, this material gives learners an opportunity to become familiar with
new words and increase their knowledge of listening skills. Also, learners have
strongly advocated regarding the adaptation of such new forms of technology as a
teaching tool in the classroom that aids and facilitates English language learning,
develops students' listening skills, and changes the classroom setting. The implications
of this research are Teachers can consider the different learning styles and assist their
students in reflecting their experience with English videos to acquire more listening
skills and be comfortable in learning English in order to reach the effective learning by
using the good technological resources in order to meet curriculum goals.
