Symptom
In ME2DP, user is able to enter a downpayment (DP) value or percentage that is higher than the value or percentage specified
in the purchase order.
Environment
Materials Management (MM)
SAP ERP Central Component
SAP ERP
SAP enhancement package for SAP ERP
SAP enhancement package for SAP ERP, version for SAP HANA
SAP S/4HANA
Cause
This is the standard system design. The value given in the PO is just a proposed value, not a limit. The DP values in the PO are
only proposed/default values in the ME2DP, it is and should be possible to post downpayment requests (DPR) with greater
amount than these. While creating a DPR or DP, the system treats the values maintained in the PO just as default values. The
person who creates the DPR or DP is responsible for deciding about the actual down payment and not the purchaser.
Resolution
There are only messages for the following situations:
If the DP's value is more than PO's total value, message F5 373 should be issued
Message FPDP_DOWN_PAYMENTS 005 ("Value of down payment request is greater than item value") will be issued if
line level DP is used, and DP value is greater than item value
If you want to throw messages in ME2DP you would have to use the badi FPDP_CREATE. See SAP note 1609137 for
further information.
