According to Plato
the nature of man is seen in the metaphysical
dichotomy between body and soul.

He believed the body and the soul are two


separate entities. The body is material and
dependent to the soul which immaterial and
independent. Plato conclude that the human
person is a soul using a body.

Contrary to Plato's idea, Aristotle


believed the body and soul is NOT separate
to one another. The body and soul is one
and constitute the human person as a
whole.
According to Aristotle, all that has life has a soul, therefore
plants and animals too have a soul
