From the guts of a car to the components of an airplane, machining cutting tools craft hunks of
metal into reliable precision parts. Machining cutting tools range from rough cutting equipment,
like chop saw or grinder, to programmable, production oriented machines, like the metal mill. If
you have ever wondered how to turn stairway posts, a lathe is the answer. The lathe of a machinist
functions like a wood-burning table, but gives the power and precision for milling metal. Mount
the material at each end to the lathe, then turn the lathe and press the cutting edges against the
material as it rotates. You can also manually press cutting edges against the material, or program
and operate the cuts via computer input. The drill press bores precision holes, reams openings and
cuts threads. The drill press features an arm that suspends a drill over a stationary base. Put the
material at the base, then activate the drill and lower it through the material. Drill presser lower on
a fixed axis; they cut precisely straight up and down.
Balancing
The reciprocating motion of the piston in an engine cylinder creates out-of-balance forces
acting along with the cylinder, while the centrifugal force associated with the crankpin
rotating about the main bearing centers creates a rotating out-of-balance force. These forces,
if not in themselves necessarily damaging, create objectionable vibration and noise in the
engine foundations, and through them to the ship (or building) in which the engine is
operating. Balancing is a way of controlling vibrations by arranging that the overall
summation of the out-of-balance forces and couples cancels out or is reduced to a more
acceptable amount.
The disturbing elements are in each case forces, each of which acts in its own plane, usually
including the cylinder axis. The essence of balancing is that a force can be exactly replaced
by a parallel force acting in a reference plane (chosen to suit the calculation) and a couple
whose arm is the distance perpendicularly between the planes in which these two forces act.
In as much as the balance is usually considered at and about convenient reference planes, all
balancing involves consideration of forces and couples.
There are many reasons for both sides of the question, "Should we have printed
advertisement'?" Many people have strong views and feel that ads are nothing more than
useless junk mail, while other people feel it is important source information.
There are some reasons why we should have advertisement in newspaper and magazines.
One reason is ads give us information about what is available. Looking at ads we can find out
what is on sale and what is new in the market. This is an easy way of shopping. Another
reason is that advertisement promotes business. When shop owners compete against each
other the buyer saves money, more people come to their shops and they sell more goods.
On the other hand, some people argue that ads should not be put in newspapers and
magazines for these various reasons. Firstly, ads cost the shopkeepers a lot of money to print
onto paper. Also some people don't like finding junk mail in their letter boxes. Ads also
influence people to buy items they don't need and can't really afford. Ads use up a lot of
space and a lot of effort has to be made the ads eye-catching.
After looking at both sides of issue, I think we should not have advertisements because they
cost a lot of money and take up a lot of room in the papers. I don't think I find some of them
interesting. I mainly disagree because it's junk mail.
