I. Title : Community Fish Landing Center Inauguration and Turn-over

Ceremony
II. Venue : Community Fish Landing Center, Poblacion, Aloguinsan, Cebu
III. Date : October 23, 2017

The Municipality of Aloguinsan is one among the LGU’s of the country who
became a beneficiary of a Community Fish Landing Center from the National
Government through the Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Fisheries and
Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR). The establishment of Community Fish Landing
Centers (CFLCs) in strategic areas nationwide was initiated by the National
Government in order to improve the socio-economic conditions of fisherfolk
communities with high poverty incidence.

The construction of the fish landing centers is part of the government’s

commitment to deliver precise interventions and promote inclusive growth in the
fishery sector. The Department of Agriculture, through the BFAR, is targeting to
reduce fisheries post-harvest losses from 25% to 18% or even at lower percentage.

The completion of the Community Fish Landing Center of the Municipality of

Aloguinsan, that will be turned-over to the LGU after its inauguration that is set on
October 23, 2017, will house post-harvest equipment and tools that will enable
fisherfolks in the locality to preserve the good quality of their fish and fishery
products, which they could sell for a higher price. The local consumers will also
benefit from the fish landing centers as they will have better access to safe and
quality fishery commodities. The facilities will also be opened as venues for skills
trainings on disaster-resilient fisheries-based livelihoods and resource management
such as monitoring fish catch and stock assessment.

IV. Objective:

To formalize the turn-over of the Community Fish Lander Center from

Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR)
to the Local Government of Aloguinsan. Thereafter, the facility shall be used among
the local constituents, particularly fisherfolks, as a hub center for landing and
trading of fish and other seafood products.

To give the fishers, traders and consumers the benefit of ensuring ready
access to fresh, safe and affordable fishery products once the facility shall be
turned-over to the Municipality.

The CFLC will also serve as training center for fish processing, proper
sanitation, proper handling and marketing, including conservation and protection of
fisheries resources. Thus, the turn-over and inauguration of the facility to the LGU
shall extend big help to the community and to the people of Aloguinsan in general.
