North Somerset Council requires a contractor to deliver the design and construction of works to upgrade highways
and bridges as part of the MetroWest Phase 1B project. The overall objective of MetroWest Phase 1B is to re-open
the Portishead rail line and provide an hourly service between Portishead and Bristol Temple Meads, with new
stations at Portishead and Pill. The Project will connect 50,000 residents to the rail network and forms part of a wider
MetroWest programme to deliver strategic enhancements to the local rail network. The highway and bridge works
comprise of two works packages –

Package 1 is the highways scope which includes detailed design and construction. It covers 5 sites – Winterstoke
Road, Bristol; Pill Memorial Club; Underbanks, Pill; Avon Road, Pill;Monmouth Road, Pill

Package 2 is the bridges scope which includes construction only. It covers 4 sites – Sheepway (Portbury Common);
Brief description of the works Old Station Road(Portbury Station); Royal Portbury Dock; Marsh Lane

The successful bidder will be asked to enter into 3 separate contracts covering the two packages:

Delivery of Package 1 - Highway Scope is brought about through the deployment of a 2 Stage approach –

Stage 1 – NEC4 Professional Services Contract (June 2017) (including January 2023 amendments) main Option A
for completing the detailed design and ancillary services (the “Stage 1 PSC”)
Stage 2 – NEC4 Engineering Construction Contract (June 2017) (including January 2023 amendments) main Option
A for construction (the “Stage 2 ECC”).

Delivery of Package 2 - Bridges Scope will be delivered through an NEC4 Engineering Construction Contract (June
2017) (including January 2023 amendments) main Option A for construction.

Invitation to Tender : 1. Sheepway Bridge - Removal of vegetation and ivy from bridge; extend masonry parapet wall to1.8m high; Rake Out and
repoint Arch; Remove loose material and replace on arch; Remove loose material and replace on wing walls/parapets; Rake out
and repoint wing walls/parapets/abutments;Mortar patch on Abutments; recasing wing walls; Pin and grout arch soffit

2. Portbury Station Overbridge - Removal of vegetation and ivy from bridge; extend masonry parapet wall to1.8m high; Rake
Out and repoint and stitch Arch; Remove loose material and replace on wing walls/parapets; Rake out and repoint wing
walls/parapets/abutments; Rake Out and repoint and stitch on Abutments; Pin and grout arch soffit

3. Marsh Lane Bridge - Removal of vegetation and ivy from bridge; extend masonry parapet wall to1.8m high; Rake Out and
repoint and stitch Arch; Remove loose material and replace on wing walls/parapets; Rake out and repoint wing
walls/parapets/abutments; Rake Out and repoint Abutments; Pin and grout arch soffit

Preambles : Working hours 07:30am - 18:00pm Weekdays. Saturday working permitted if required.
Rates to include all OH&P with Prelims priced separately
AMCO will provide all welfare and security
The Sub-contractor may insert additional items as he sees fit to assist in the preparation of his Tender.
The client for this project is North Somerset Council - the sub-contractor must adhere to their policies and procedures
