INTRODUCTION

Managing time is considered by many as one of the important ways to succeed in life. Managing time
makes us to give priority to important things in life. For a person to schedule and well organize his
time in order to increase productivity and improve overall satisfaction in his/her life, all what he or
she needs is good time Management.

WHAT IS TIME MANAGEMENT?

Time Management is the process of planning and organizing your time effectively. That is, in a way
that allows you to complete tasks in order to achieve your long-term goals. It can be helpful for both
personal and professional goals. When you have a good time management plan, you are able to use
your time effectively and efficiently.

➢ TIME: It is the continuous sequence of existence and events that occur in an apparently
irreversible succession from the past through the present. In other words, time is the
progression of events from the past into the future. Time moves only in one direction. That is
it is possible to move forward in time but not backward.

➢ MANAGEMENT: This is the process of getting a work or a task done in an efficient or effective
manner, so as to achieve a goal in every stage of life. It includes planning, organizing, staffing,
directing and controlling. It is also how a person organizes and direct workflow and tasks in
order to meet one’s goal.

➢ PRIORITY: This is something that is more important than other things and which needs to be
done or dealt with first. It is also the quality or state of coming before another in time or
importance.

To perfectly manage your time, the following strategies are necessary:

I. Define your priorities: To draw your plan, always give priority to important task before listing
those with less importance. This will permit you to have less stress as performing important
task first make you to take your time and be relaxed while performing banal tasks.

II. Create a daily planner: make a list of your daily tasks and note in your upcoming activities
and tasks of the day. Once you perform a task on the list, always tick it off. This will give you
the stage you are in in the performing of your tasks.

III. Give each task on your plan a time limit: while giving a task a time limitation, you will
discover how much time you can spend on that particular task. If during the accomplishment
of that task you reach the time limit on it without completing it, you can place the task aside
and start a new one. This will give you fresh mind state to start the task.

IV. Block out distraction: This means that you should stay focus and perform all your tasks
without any distraction. Minimize your use of non-work distraction such as phones, social
media or your favorite web pages. Give them a time limitation.

V. Set Reminder for all your tasks: before a task’s time arrives remind yourself 15 minutes
before that specific time arrives so as to prepare yourself for the task which can be a meeting
or an event. This reminder will permit you to avoid the stress linked to last minutes planning.

VI. Delegating (getting help from family, friend and colleagues): in situations where you have too
much tasks to perform in a day, you can get help from a person you think has the skill
required to perform some of your tasks. This will give you time to perform the important
tasks at the time required and thus make you stress less and thus giving you satisfaction. This
will make you to better manage your time and making up your day.

VII. Stop procrastinating (postponing or delaying): do not delay or postpone a task on your plan,
no matter how difficult that task is always do it on the time indicated so as to be done with it
because the more you delay a task the more it becomes difficult to do it.

VIII. Stay Healthy: the care and attention you give yourself is an important investment of time.
Scheduling time to relax and do nothing helps you rejuvenate physically and mentally,
enabling you to perform tasks more quickly and easily.

I. One of its importance is that it makes you not to miss deadlines and appointments which are
often difficult to keep track of and which are easy to miss. To keep yourself on track with
work and finish on time, you need to make sure you start on time. As such, time
management is needed.

II. An importance of time management in one’s life that there will be more focus and less
procrastinate: When you know you are working and learning on a fixed schedule with task
allocated to specific time slot in a day, it will be easier for you to focus since you know you
have personal deadlines to meet for each task. And as a result, you won’t delay a task.

III. As importance, time management helps to avoid stress as you will not be racing to finish a
task or work at the last time since you have already well planned and segmented the task in
question.

IV. Another importance is that time management helps you to pass and succeed in life. When
you manage your time according to the entire sector you are dealing with like the educative
or financial sector, you will surely succeed in those sectors.

V. Time management is important as it will help you to balance your life activities whether it
concerns the educative, working or private sector, time management will always help you to
put these sectors at the same level thus, making life balanced.

our days efficiently, it increases your confidence. Taking control of your life reduces anxiety.
Good time management means meeting tight deadlines and planning your time.

III. Time management benefits us in every area of our life. It helps you to increase your
productivity and to know what your priorities are. Time management makes you to give in
more importance on how to invest your time.

IV. Time management helps you to work smarter and less hard so as to get more jobs done in
less time and capture bigger opportunities in life. It makes you to get more productive work
done in less time.
