1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10… When I was five I learned to count from 1-10. A
huge accomplishment back then. A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z… After a year of learning the counting, my father taught me the alphabet and the alphabet song. Which goes like this A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z Now I know my ABC next time. Can you sing with me? Another milestone for me. After that, a different phase of life for a young 7 years old boy has started. He is now standing in front of a primary school knowing only how to write his name, singing the ABC and counting from 1 to 10. Studying cost willingness, time and effort. I thought back then that once I finished elementary school eventually studying will stop there. But, everything happens on the contrary of what I am expecting because that (elementary schooling) is just the initial step to a higher form of learning. Gravitational force is equal to -9.8 m/s². Enthalpy. Entropy. Silicon. Hydrogen. Nitrogen. SOH-CAH-TOA. Obtuse, acute and right angle. These are few of the things I have learned in High School. Way back this days I was amazed on how the world works. I was amazed that there are lots of things outside my knowledge or capacity. I was amazed that I somehow able to understand these things. I was amazed and grateful to every teachers that taught me about the world. They made me realize that the world of knowledge is vast. It is an open space, a never ending space. And, now that I am on the process of becoming a warrior of education, a conveyor of knowledge. I want to be a teacher, that will loved and enjoyed by my students. I want to be a teacher that can make my students loved the subject I taught. I want to be a role model for them that they can rely on. According to Kathleen McClaskey, every child on the planet is a learner. And they differed. There are variety of students out there waiting to be taught on a manner the can understand the lesson best. As a future teacher, my goal is to teach in a variety of method that will eventually reached the inquisitive mind of my students. In this sense, I may not be able to be the best teacher but I can fulfil with the feeling of satisfaction my duty as a real warrior of education… a teacher.
