Assignment No 11

Aim-

Study assignment- Assembling and disassembling of computer systems and identifying Internal
components such as motherboard, RAM, Expansion card, power supply, Internal Memory, serial port,
parallel ports, etc.

Theory:

Assembling and disassembling of computer systems assembling a PC means connecting systems of a

computer so that users can use the PC or computer.

How to assemble a CPU step by step:

1. Take Inventory
2. Make space and time
3. Prepare your CPU case
4. Install mother board
5. Install the processor
6. Install the processor heat sink
7. Install the RAM
8. Install the RAM
9. Install SMPS
10. Install the JDD
11. Install CD/DVD drive
12. Connect Expansion cards
13. Install SYS/Rear cooling fan
14. Bus cable connection
15. Power cable connection
16. Front Panel connector connection
17. Dissembling of a computer systems involve the following steps:
18. Detach the power cable
19. Remove the cover
20. Remove the Adapter cards
21. Remove the Driver
22. Remove the Memory Modules
23. Remove the power supply
24. Remove the Motherboard
25. Identifying the Internal components

1 Motherboard-
A motherboard serves as a single platform to connect all of the parts of a computer altogether.
It connects the CPU, memory, hard drives, video cord, sound cord and other parts and
expansion cords directly or via cables. It can also be considered as the backbone of a
computer.
2 RAM-
RAM(Random Access Memory) is the internal memory of the CPU for storing data, program,
and program result. It is a read/write memory which stores data until the machine is working,
as soon as the machine is switched off, data is erased. It is of two types:
Static RAM (SRAM)
Dynamic RAM (DRAM)

3 Expansion cord-
In computing an expansion cord (also called an expansion board. Is a printed circuit board that
can be inserted into an electrical or connector or expansion slot (also referred as bus slots on
a computer’s motherboard to add functionality to a computer system.

4 Power supply-
A power supply is a device that converts one voltage to while delivering power, power supplies
are designed from the output back to the input.

5 Internal memory-
Internal memory is also called main memory or primary memory, refers to memory that stores
small amounts of data that can be accessed quickly while the computer is running.

6 Serial port-
In computing a serial port is a serial communication interface through which information
transistors in or out sequentially one bit at a time. Serial data interfaces include CAN, AS-232,
RS-485, RS-422, etc.

7 Parallel ports-
A parallel port is an interface allowing a personal computer (PC) to transmit or receive data
down multiple bundled cables to a peripheral device such as printer.

8 Peripherals-
It is used to communicate with the outside world microcomputers. Peripherals are connected
to the microcomputers through electronic circuits known as interfacing circuits. Example:
Hard disks, floppy disks, magnetic tapes, etc

Conclusion- hence studied the assembling and disassembling of computer systems and identified
internal components such as motherboard, expansion cord, power supply, peripherals, etc.
