NOTICE REGARDING THE SPECIFICATION CHANGES FOR NEMIO

From October 2001, part of the specifications for Nemio (SSA-550A) will be changed in production. The
software version will be V2.0 after this specification change.

1. Major improvements

2. Details of the improved and additional specifications

(1) Improvement in cardiovascular image quality

The image quality conditions for the cardiovascular transducer have been reviewed. In particular,
detectability is improved in difficult patients (patients for whom good cardiovascular images were
difficult to obtain).

(2) Improvement in frame rate

The additional hardware "Line Doubler" improves the frame rate.

(3) Support for new transducers

The following transducers can now be used.

PVF-738H Intra-operative 10.0/7.5/5.0 MHz

PVF-738F Intra-operative 10.0/7.5/5.0 MHz
PLM-503AT Peripheral Vascular 8.5/7.2/6.0 MHz
PVF-620ST Endocavity 7.5/6.0/4.0 MHz
PEF-708FA Endoscopic (except USA) 10.0/7.5/5.0 MHz

Note: To use the PEF-708FA, the Fujinon light source unit PS2-HS is required.

(4) Programmable VRP

This feature allows the user to customize the VRP table that is used for selecting blood flow
velocity range for color Doppler imaging.

(5) iDoppler

This feature automatically adjusts the scale and zero-shift in FFT Doppler mode to display the
waveform without aliasing. It is also possible to adjust the scale only through presetting. In
addition, the measured values are displayed for reference during real-time Doppler tracing.

(6) BMP with condition codes

It is now possible to select the bitmap format with condition codes, which saves images on an
MO together with the system setting information such as the scale setting. Although a function
to perform recalculation using this function is not installed in Nemio, recalculation will be
possible in an external PC when software is developed to use this function.

(7) User registration of measurements

Off-line registration using Excel is now supported in addition to on-line registration in Nemio.

(8) Contrast Harmonic Imaging (CHI)

This optional software supports examination with contrast medium. The excellent contrast echo
features of the PowerVision series are now available in Nemio.

When this optional software is installed, Dynamic Flow imaging, which visualizes the blood flow
in greater detail with the use of contrast medium, can be used in Nemio.

(10) Time Intensity Curve (TIC)

This optional software plots a graph of the intensity change on 2D (B-mode) images.

(11) Automated Cardiac flow Measurement (ACM)

This optional software calculates the cardiac output.

3. Other improvements

(1) User registration of body marks

Body marks can be registered and modified in Nemio, and can also be saved and loaded in BMP
format.

4. Support for installed systems

Systems can be upgraded to V2.0 on-site by installing software upgrade kits USBU-550A or
USBU-551A.. However, these kits do not include the frame rate improving hardware, Line
Doubler.

It should be noted that Line Doubler is not supplied in a kit. It is supplied as a service part.
