It was a great weekend for the pupils of First Field


Academy. They won three local sports competitions!
The football team won the city tournament. They beat
Oakhampton School 5–0 in the final match. Coach Bill
Brown said, ‘They played very well, and they looked
great in their new orange strip!’
Sally Huff, in year 6 at First Field, won the gold medal
at the local junior judo championship. ‘I’m so happy,’
she said, ‘I fell off my bike and broke my leg last year,
and I didn’t do judo for months.’
The school’s swimming team also did really well in the
local schools’ tournament. They won ten of the twelve
races and won a cup.
Headteacher Mrs Jane Jones said, ‘I’m so happy for
all of the pupils. It wasn’t good luck – they have
worked hard for their success.’
