The Heritage of Vietnam

Vietnam or the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is located near the East coast of Asia. It is a land of
wonders and has a vast Heritage which makes the country of Vietnam very unique. Vietnam is
known for its famous Beaches and for its busy cities. Many tourists around the world visit this
country to spend and enjoy their time in this modern, beautiful and scenic country. The
landforms of Vietnam also make Vietnam an ecologically important country. Vietnam is home
to 8 United Nations Educational, Scientific and cultural Organization or UNESCO world Heritage
sites. It ranks second In Asia after Indonesia with the most sites in Asia. Vietnam is in the east of
the Asian Indo-Chinese peninsula and is surrounded by China in the North, Laos in the west and
by Cambodia in the south.

Vietnam has large and immense rainforest jungles. In other words, Vietnam is covered in a big
green blanket. It also a long range of mountains and beautiful valleys which makes Vietnam an
important exporter of wood-based and environment friendly products. Vietnam is mainly
known for exporting electronical machinery and equipment, boilers and even dangerous, large
Nuclear reactors.

Vietnam is a mix of modern and historical culture. It has a very rich history and its capital Hanoi
pays tribute to the late Communist-era Leader Ho-chi Minh and other leaders which made
Vietnam a great nation. Hanoi, formerly known as Saigon was renamed to Ho Chi Minh city to
show respect to the leader. The capital city of Hanoi also has many famous French-colonial
monuments built during the time of the French occupation in 1885. Vietnam also fought the
Vietnam war against the United States of America and has built many memorials for its fallen
soldiers. Vietnam war was a war fought between the Americans and the Communist rebels of
Ho Chi Minh. During the Vietnam war, the Viet Cong soldiers used the elaborate and well-
planned Cu Chi tunnels to fight the American soldiers. Vietnam has built a Large marble
Mausoleum for its great leader, Ho Chi Minh and also has many French-era monuments.

Vietnam has many Buddhist Pagodas and Monasteries. Here other religions like Hinduism,
Taoism and Confucianism are followed but the main dominant religion is Buddhism or the
Mahayana Buddhism. The best thing about Vietnamese culture is that it emphasises on the
importance of family and community. Here the values of Confucianism are followed which state
Harmony, duty, peace and allegiance to the family. Vietnam is an amazing country with many
temples and home to the world’s largest cave.
