The COVID-19 Pandemic brought dilemma in making schools switching to diverse

media of learning. The Department of Education (DEPED) declared the new normal system of
education last August 24, 2020 on the academic year 2020-2021 declared by Secretary Leonor
Briones. The new normal system of education mainly challenged the school in adapting up into
this present time.

The new normal system of education mainly involved the online and modular class. An
online classroom is an environment created through use of a learning management system that
allows students and teacher to connect through different online platforms. Modular learning is a
form of distance learning that uses Self-Learning Modules (SLM) based on the most essential
learning competencies.

During the school closure, the cancellation of face-to-face immediate switches to the
online and modular class leaving all educational institution in great distress. The abrupt changes
in phase engage instructors and students in stress preferring the in-person instruction.

To address the alarming effect of this situation, the Department of Education calls out
the full cooperation of learners, teachers as well the parents. The cooperation and collaboration
of parent contributed to the circumstance experience by learners. Parents’ primary goals are to
monitor, to motivate, and to guide their children in diverse ways. Providing the learners better
opportunities to explore things class-home is now considered as a must-have.

In order to have a healthy learning environment, the learners should also facilitate
concentration regardless of what the situation is. The active participation of students will brought
deep learning experiences and eventually fulfills the course regardless of the transition of
educational method.

Lastly, the learning environment amidst the COVID-19 pandemic is vividly different.
Yet, the DepEd is optimistic that despite this crisis, we should encourage not only the
teachers but students to not only specialize and memorize; but to explore and
analyze, to know how to be objective, break a problem apart and come up with a
solution with flexibility.
