DriveTools SP Version 5.14

System Requirements
This release has the following system requirements.

Minimum Hardware Requirements


To use this software effectively, your personal computer should meet the following minimum hardware
requirements. Using a computer exceeding the recommended characteristics will improve performance.
• Processor: Intel® Core 2 Duo at 2.8 GHz
• RAM: 4 GB
• Hard disk space: 22 GB free
• Pointing device: Any Microsoft Windows®-compatible pointing device

Software Requirements
Tested and Supported Operating Systems
• Windows 10 (32-bit and 64-bit)*
• Windows Server 2019 (64-bit)*
• Windows 7 SP1 (32-bit and 64-bit)
• Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 (64-bit)

*requires .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 to be installed

New System Features


• Update to protect from known security vulnerability
o Information can be found at Knowledgebase Document ID PN1543; Answer ID 1129798
o Movement of default database storage location to C:\Users\Public\Documents\Rockwell
Automation\DriveTools\Databases and modification of access to component storage location
o Updates are not expected to impact usability
• Validated support for Windows 10
• DeviceLogix Editor v8.1.0 Update
• RSLinx v4.20 Update
• Updated to include Rockwell Automation common installer

Corrected Anomalies
• PCBANOM-1993: Adding 20-750-ENETR to a PowerFlex 755 can cause crash.
• PCBANOM-1998 (Lgx00163138): Some PCs show an error after installation.
New Anomaly
• “Enable FactoryTalk Security” checklist is missing from the installer. Enabling FactoryTalk Security requires a
workaround. This feature provides users with access controls to DriveTools SP programs managed by FactoryTalk
Security. The default is not enabled.

Below is the workaround to enable FactoryTalk Security after the initial installation is complete:

1. Open Add/Remove programs and find DriveTools v5.14

2. Click Modify to launch the DriveTools maintenance mode installer


3. Click Next
4. Make sure the Modify option is selected and click Next

5. Check the “Enable FactoryTalk Security” checkbox and click Next

6. Click Next Again


7. Click Install
8. The installer will run and update the FactoryTalk setting.

Download and install the Updates


The updates can be obtained by downloading it from the Product Compatibility & Download Center (PCDC):
https://compatibility.rockwellautomation.com/Pages/home.aspx

Enter “DriveTools SP”) in the Product Search field to display the available products. Click Downloads.

When downloading, click on the desired download method. Managed Download is recommended for the
reasons listed in the image below.

Unzip and install the update by running setup.exe.
