PURPOSE OF MEDICATION

Expected Pharmacological Action Therapeutic Use

Counteracts the toxicity of hypercalcemia by It is used to treat conditions arising from calcium
stabilizing membranes of the cardiac cells, deficiencies such as hypocalcemic tetany,
reducing the likeliness of fibrillation. hypocalcemia related to hypoparathyrodism and
hypocalcemia due to rapid growth or pregnancy.

Complications Medication Administration

Constipation, Decreased appetite, Diarrhea, Dry mouth, Intravenous and by mouth
Extravasation necrosis, Gas (flatulence), Headache, Hot administration.
flashes, Hypotension, Cardiac arrythmias, Pain and Do not administer by subcutaneous
or intramuscular.

For chewable tablet, make sure to
chew or crushed before
swallowing.
Take medication with meal.
Contraindications/Precautions
Hypersensitivity

ceftriaxone, demeclocycline, dolutegravir, doxycycline,
eltrombopag, lymecycline, minocycline, oxytetracycline
and tetracycline.
Client Education
Instruct client to report any
