Apache Clothing

Apache women wore buckskin dresses and over time that progressed to
calico skirts and dresses.Before the 19th century, the Apache men wore
leather shirts and breechcloths and by the 1800s they wore white cotton
tunics and pants.Warriors did not traditionally wear feather warbonnets
although the Plains Apaches did adopt headdresses from their friends
the Kiowas. Most Apache tribes wore leather or cloth
headbands.Ceremonial clothing was slightly different. The Apache
peoples would often wear special wooden masks and headdresses.

Wichita ClothingWichita Indian men wore breechcloths,


sometimes with leather leggings to protect their legs. Wichita women
wore wraparound skirts and poncho tops made of woven fiber and
deerskin. Both genders wore earrings. Like most Native Americans,
Wichita people wore moccasins on their feet. Wichita men did not
usually wear shirts, but in cold weather, both men and women wore
buffalo robes.

Where the Apache Lived


The Apache lived in high mountains, valleys, deep canyons,
and deserts (Present day Eastern Arizona, Northern Mexico,
New Mexico, West Texas, and Southern Colorado)
Where the Wichita Lived
The Whichita lived in Northern Texas in the mountains (some
call it the wichita mountains). This was in present day Kansas,
oklahoma and prairie and lake region texas

What the Apache Ate


The Apache ate Buffalo, small game, corn, beans, and squash.
The Apache were very dependent on Buffalo.

What the Wichita Ate


The Witchita ate fish, clams, buffalo, corn, beans, squash,
berries, and roots.

The tribes around the Wichita are the Caddo and the Atakapa
Tribes around the apache
The tribes around the apache are the Jumano comanche and
kiowa.

Culture similarities and differences


The wichita used dog sled and where seasonal buffalo hunters
and they used all the parts for everything they would need.
The apache were originally farmers were they grew squash
corn watermelon, and pumpkins, but then when the europeans
arrived they stopped farming and started using the horse they
brought over to become hunter gatherers. They also used dog
and sled like the wichita.
