A Christmas Carol. In Prose. Being a Ghost Story of Christmas,
or commonly known as the A Christmas Carol is a book written by Charles Dickens. It was first published in 1843, then began to be read by Charles from 1849 and made into a black and white silent film in 1901 under the title Scrooge, or, Marley's Ghost. This book tells of an old man named Ebenezer Scrooge who is cold, miserly, antisocial who hates Christmas, until finally he is visited by the ghost of his co-worker Jacob Marley who will change him. A Christmas Carol tells the story of a Christmas Eve covered in cold weather but awaited by everyone, then a man named Ebenezer Scrooge who is stingy, aged and workaholic refuses an offer for dinner from his nephew Fred, Scrooge is an individualist person he has no family and His co-worker and his only friend died 7 years ago, and one beautiful night he stammered that Christmas was just a bunch of bullshit. Scrooge expels people who ask for donations, then forces his employee named Bob Cratchit to work overtime on Christmas Eve with a small salary, and Scrooge never greets people, even people who see him on the street tend to avoid him. That same night Jacob's ghost appears to Scrooge in the appearance of a chain that is tied to a heavy money box due to greed during life and he tells Scrooge that he will be visited by 3 ghosts at the same hour at the different night. The first ghost to come to Scrooge, the ghost of the past which shows Scrooge a person named Belle who is Scrooge's ex-caste who finally left Scrooge and is finally happy and already has a family. Then the second ghost, is the present-day ghost who shows Scrooge about his employee Bob Crachit's Christmas Eve with his family and his youngest son Tiny Tim who is seriously ill and will die if the present is not changed. And the last ghost, the future, which shows Scrooge the grave of a man who is none other than Srooge himself with no sobs, and only used to get lunch, then it is also shown Bob Crachit's family crying over the death of Tiny Tim. After being shown all that, Scrooge cried and regretted his behavior so far. On the afternoon of Christmas, Scrooge came to his niece's house Fred and had dinner together. After that, he donated a lot of money to people who asked for a lot of money yesterday. Don’t forget to greet the man on the street while the man was amazed. He also delivers turkeys to Bob Crachit's house without Bob knowing and the next day he raises Bob's salary. Overall this novel is interesting to read both from children to adults, the words in this novel are also easy to understand so it is suitable for novice novel readers, the atmosphere in this novel is clearly described starting from Scrooge's characteristics to the cold atmosphere of his house and added with animation that allows us to more fully realize the character of a Scrooge and the appearance of the ghosts that exist. We recommend this novel to be read, especially in a Christmas atmosphere, so that the story of this novel can be felt more, this novel is a light novel but has a deep moral message such as respecting the people around you, money is not everything, ......
