KICK-OFF CEREMONY
Day 1 - October 24, 2022
Cabuyao Integrated National High School prides itself in supporting the Oplan
Kalusugan sa DepEd One Health Week Celebration with the theme “Strengthening the
Health Situation and Adaptation of School in the New Normal through the Convergence of
OK sa DepEd Programs”.
The kick-off ceremony of the OK sa DepEd One-Health Week Celebration was
conducted after the flag raising ceremony was held on October 24, 2022 at the school
covered court. The participating students and teachers were from the three (3) grade 7
sections: Sparrow, Skylark, and Starling.

MRS. NERIZA VARGAS actively hosted the kick-off ceremony of the One-Health Week. The
school officer-in-charge MRS. TEODORA M. GALANG welcomed the teachers and participants of the
importance of assuring one’s health above anything else as it fuels one’s energy and will to carry on
daily tasks and challenges. She also stressed the impact of maintaining healthy body especially in the
face-to-face class set up. She acknowledged the different focal persons/coordinators for the different
flagship programs of OK sa DepEd. She also mentioned the activities to be conducted on the same day
which were for the WINS, ARH, and Medical Dental and Nursing Health Services.
MS. TRISHA G. CASTILLO, the OK sa DepEd School Coordinator highlighted the
school’s participation in the One-Health Week Celebration. She reminded everyone of the
responsibility in keeping one’s self healthy at all times. The following coordinators/focal
persons were also introduced along with his/her flagship program during the kick-off
ceremony:

DISTRIBUTION OF HYGIENE KITS

MS. ROSEMARIE DEMEJER, the WINS Coordinator, facilitated a short information

TEENAGE PREGNANCY SYMPOSIUM

As part of the ARH Program activity, a symposium about teenage pregnancy was
conducted in Cabuyao Integrated National High School. Two sessions were held attended by
Senior High School students and select Grade 10 students respectively. The speakers chosen
for this activity were of top caliber and were respected in the field of reproductive health.
DR. MARIA TERESA S. DAVID, the City Population Officer and the focal person in the ARH
training given by the Commission Population and Development, and MR. HAROLD DAVID,
Region 4A Information Officer 2 of Commission on Population and Development.

Dr. Maria Teresa David, (in green) City Population Officer and Mr. Harold David (in yellow), Region 4A
Information Officer 2 of Commission on Population and Development together with the school office- in-charge,
Mrs. Teodora M. Galang.

Students from both sessions were immensely absorbed by the presented facts by the
speakers. Teenage pregnancy was not just considered as real and happening, moreso
alarming. CALABARZON was considered as the region with the most number of teenage
pregnancy cases, having Laguna as the second in number in provinces. Cabuyao places as 6 th
in the entire Laguna province with the most number of teenage pregnancy cases. In
barangay level, Marinig tops the municipality of Cabuyao. Since these local data were
presented to Cabuyeňo students, there was a little air of astonishment and disbelief from
the facts, but the message was clear - everyone felt surprised and more importantly,
concerned.

As the discussion progressed with more presentation of details, the subject was
brought closer to the personal lives of the students having been teenagers themselves.
Relevant questions were asked by the speakers to which the students from both sessions
enthusiastically and actively responded. All students who participated in the discussions
were given hygiene kits. Interactive videos were presented where students gave their
feedbacks. Finally, students were asked of their impressions about the sessions that they
had attended. All responses were commendable and meaningful. A total of 340 students
attended the sessions. Here are some pictures related to the conducted teenage pregnancy
symposium:
