GROUP ASSIGNMENT GUIDELINES

COMPUTER APPLICATIONS IN BUSINESS (BPB11902)


SEMESTER I, SESSION 2023/2024
FACULTY OF TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT & BUSINESS
UNIVERSITI TUN HUSSEIN ONN MALAYSIA

Assessment Criteria: This is a group assignment, which contribute 25 percent (25%) of the
overall course assessment. The final submission of the assignment will be on week 14 (11 Jan
2024). Late submission will deduct marks accordingly. The assignment should follow the following
guidelines:
1) In a group of 4 members, you need to find an organisation or shop that has a problem in
managing their data and information.

2) Based on the company you have selected; your group need to find THREE (3) main issues that
the company is experiencing, and you need to clearly mention those issues in the group
report.

3) Based on issues found, you need to develop a simple system (i.e., one solution for all issues)
using Microsoft Excel functions and formulas that you have learned from this course.

4) You may include any formulas, functions to make your system complete and solving issues
that you have mentioned in the introduction of the project. Here are some of the suggestions
of formula that your group can include:
a. Financial (e.g., PMT, NPR, FV, IPMT)
b. Lookup and references (e.g., MATCH, INDEX, COLUMN, VLOOKUP (compulsory to
use), HLOOKUP (compulsory to use)
c. Math and Trigonometry (e.g., MOD, PRODUCT, RAND)
d. Logical (e.g., IF, FALSE, TRUE, NOT)
e. PIVOT table (compulsory to use).
f. For each of the suggestion, you need to provide the justification.

Group Report Should Include the Following Details:

1) Introduction – information on the company chose, nature of the company, main issues in
managing data and information.
2) Complexity and Comprehensiveness of each function/formula use - provide in detail the
description of issues, how it been solved, description of the system.
3) Working and correct formula – no copy / type data only. Each formula should function.
4) The Report and Ms Excel, should be submitted in softcopy version. The platform for
submission is using Author UTHM.
5) Please make sure the report has proper formatting including cover page with student
name, matric no, correct section no, assignment details, table of content, page number,
numbering, references and etc.
6) The report should include the description of each sheet (i.e., one separate sheet). For
example, sheet 1 only has the raw data without any formulas embedded in it, sheet 2
comprises information that calculates the number of books loaned, the expected return date
of the book, etc.
7) The originality of the document will be the main criteria of the assessment.
