SOLAR POWERED GREENHOUSE OPERATIONS

PROJECT PROPOSAL

The project is focused in using solar energy to; spray, irrigate, power a solar freezer and pump water
from the pond situated near the greenhouse.

PROJECT SUMMARY

 AGRI SMART G.PRODUCTION aims at reducing exposure of personell to chemicals and

pesticide and also effective chemical use for uniform and good growth of plants.
 Maintaining better greenhouse conditions
 Reduce spoilage of produce by storing them in a well conditioned storage freezer may be
due to market low demand or delay of transporting vehicles.

DESIGN

The design uses DC pumps for pumping water from source to main tank. Other pump used to pump
chemicals from chemical mixing tank to spraying nozzles to plants.

Use of a batteries to provide stable power to the sensors .

The batteries also power a freezer a freezer which is basically used to store highly perishable
produce.

The size depends on the size of the greenhouse which also affects other requirements.

Tanks are used specifically for water storage and other for chemicals mixing.

COST

Total cost is approximately $1150

Role to proposed SDGs

The project as met the following SDGs;

 SDG 3- Reduce health risk since handling of chemicals is mechanized

 SDG 7- Use of clean and affordable energy
 SDG 8- Decent work
 SDG 12- Responsible consumption and production

SCALABILITY

The project can be scaled up depending on market demands and climate change problems affecting
the seasons which makes agriculture difficult to be carried out.

ROLES

The project is able to solve;

1. Cost of looking for spraying individuals who charge a lot of money due to the fact of the risks
of using the chemicals
2. Health issues reduced also deaths
3. Issue of fresh and clean produce
4. Wastage of abundant and solar energy available in the area
5. Water wastage and appropriate chemical use
Design problems
 The design is costly but not as much as hiring individual every time
 Reduce employment

ADVANTAGES
The is reduction of solar structures by using the greenhouse structures
Also erection of spray pipes.
