Concept Notes:
Tubigon, Bohol is well known for its “lambay” or blue crabs (Portunus pelagicus). A dance
developed from imitating the side-walking, courting, pinching, clawing, and fighting of the crabs.
Nilambay is taken from the Cebuano-Boholano word “lambay” for the blue crab, thus the name of the
dance literally means “in imitation of the blue crab” or “like a crab”.
