1.0 General information
1.1 Introduction
Use and manintenance in safety of the instrument are indispensable to avoid
dangerous situations for the operator.
It is indispensable to read this manual carefully.
Operator must be trained to use the instrument respecting safety regulations
and use limits of the instrument.
Technical assistance
Before signaling an instrument anomaly, read carefully sections 6.2 / 6.3
which allow to diagnose the gravity of bad functioning. Afterwards send the
form for intervention demand (par. 7.3) filled in each part. Directly to DIAPATH s.r.l..
Spare parts and accessories

Spare parts/accessories must be original and supplied by DIAPATH s.r.l.. To
receive them send the form for spare parts/accessories (par. 7.2) filled in
each part. It is important to remind that each introduced change without
written consent of DIAPATH s.r.l. cancels every declaration of conformity.

- Before using installed instrument, search in index the concerned matter
and value if you have the necessary competence to operate.

- Before operating on internal circuit, consult diagrams on technical

attachments.
- Not remove, tear or rewrite for any reason parts of the manual.
- If it is necessary to take note, do it in Notes (par. 7.6)
1.3 Introductory remarks

Information of this manual have the purpose to give directions concerning:
- Use of the instrument.
- Technical features.
- Instructions for movement, installation and assembly.
- Information for training of operators.
- Maintenance intervention.
The manufacturer considers himself raised from any responsibility in the
following cases:
- Illegitimate use of the instrument.
- Incorrect installation done by an external operator.
- Defects of external power supply.
- Ordinary non/maintenance.
- Use of non/original or non/suitable spare parts.
- Partial or total non/compliace with instructions.
- Non/authorised changes or interventions.

1.4 Foreseen use

Suctioned station with horizontal and vertical flux, wholly made of AISI 304
stainless steel, designed for reducing anatomical specimens preserved in
formalin.
1.5 Necessary competences
General operator
-He doesn’t need particular technical competences.
-He is qualified to daily use and setting of parameters necessary to correct
utilization of the instrument.
-He is responsible for the correct ordinary maintenance.
Mechanical maintenance man

-He needs mechanical competences.
-He is qualified to do interventions of extraordinary mechanical maintenance
under his proved theoretical knowledge and his acquired experience.
Elettrical maintenance man

-He needs electrical competences.
-He is qualified to do interventions of extraordinary electrical maintenance
under his proved theoretical knowledge and his acquired experience.

Diapath technical assistance

-It is qualified to do interventions for problems concerning functioning
caused by serious anomalies.
-It intervenes only under written demand with Form for intervention demand
(par. 7.3).
1.6 Safety regulations

This section has the purpose to underline safety conditions for operator and
for anyone uses the instrument. It is obligatory to read carefully the following
regulations to avoid unpleasant dangerous situations..
Read carefully every danger message on the instrument.
It is forbidden to modify or camper with installed safety devices.
It is forbidden to put liquids different from water in the Pyrex dish.
Don’t use non-suitable or improvised tools to do maintenance.
The person in charge for ordinary maintenance must always allow view of
danger signals on structure and reading of warming on manual.
When an operator notes a defected or the bad functioning of the instrument,
he has to inform immediately the person in charge that will value the anomaly
gravity.
Before doing ordinary maintenance, be sure that instrument is turn off by
the general ignition switch.
Before doing ordinary maintenance, be sure that instrument is turn off and
supply cable is unplugged.

It is forbidden to enter with any tool inside the body if not explicitly authorised by
written consent of DIAPATH s.r.l..
Each intervention on structure and on mechanical devices must be done by a
qualified mechanical maintenance man and under written consent of DIAPATH s.r.l. .
Each intervention on electrical devices must be done by a qualified electrical
maintenance man and under written consent of DIAPATH s.r.l. .
Before installation, be sure that protections on supply system are in accordance
with regulations concerning civil and industrial system.
2.0 Working conditions
2.1 Lighting
Instrument is equipped by its lighting through a 58 W fluorescent tube lengthways.
2.2 Environmental conditions

Ecos Trim Inox 180 is designed to operate in all laboratories of Pathological
Anatomy and Histology.
Therefore it doesn’t need particular condition of use , that aren’t already
obligatory in health environments.

2.3 Environmental contamination

Ecos trim inox 180 is designed to reduce anatomical specimens, which could be
infected. To reduce contamination risk, it is indispensable to respect rules concerning
safety in biologically infected environments, an ordinary maintenance and cleaning.
2.4 Disposal and demolition

For disposal and demolition, the buyer must stick to regulations of his State.
However particular disposal problems are not foreseen.

4.0 Preliminary operations
4.1 Installation
For installation a Shuko 16 A plug is necessary. Plug should be connected to
a system in accordance to rules in civil and health place.
It must be equipped with grounding, magnetothermal protection and sensibility
differential suitable to user.
DIAPATH s.r.l discalims all responsabilities for damage and accidents

caused by the non-conformity of the systems.
4.2 Electrical connection

The electrical connection must be done by a qualified technician (DIAPATH technician
/Electrical maintenance man).
Be sure that:
- Voltage and frequency of electrical system are the same of instrument (par. 3.1).
- Electrical system must be fitted to support hood absorptions.
- The plug must have protection to overload tension.
4.3 Hydraulic connection

The hydraulic connection must be done by a qualified technician (DIAPATH technician
/Hydraylic maintenance man).
Be sure that:
- The equipped wall connections are two wall male connections, cold/warm water
½ poll/h54mm, fitted to an unloading connections of 1½ poll/h 44 cm. G.
- Hydraulic system must be fitted to supply enough water from washing nozzles
and shower at the same time.

5.3 Suction system
This hood is equipped with two aspirators of

1000 m3 /h each.
Suction power is divided on two suction fronts,
both lengthways:
- one on the rear wall in correspondence
to working plane;
- one on ceiling near the opening.
Through membrane control board is possible
to adjust air flux.
ECOS TRIM INOX is equipped with activated
charcoal filters and synthetic fibre pre/filters
(ideal to block heavy dust)
The more filter becomes obstructed, the more motor power has to be
increased in order to obtain a greater velocity of air flux.
An acoustic alarm announces automatically filter saturations and the
consequent necessity to replace it.
On average a filter (10Kg) lasts from 3 to 5 monthes.

Possibility to adjust electrically shutter height is a great comfort but note that:
- velocity of suctioned air is directly proportional to motor power;
- by constant power, air velocity is inversely proportional to shutter opening
surface
It is advisable to:
- not obstruct suction holes with bottles;
- verify that air unloading is free and without crackings;
- replace filters.

5.4 Formalin system

Tank loading and unloading can be done also by non/qualified users.
Procedure to replace loading tank:
1. Fill in loading tank with formalin. If it is possible without impurities in order

to avoid obstruction of filter on the pump, If formalin is supplied in 20l
standard tanks, it is possible to insert on it the loading cap in order to
avoid pouring.
2. Screw cap clockwise without gripping too much.
3. Place tank.
4. Insert PVC male/female connector till safety catch click.
5. When minimum level is reached, unhook connector. Connector is
equipped with interception valve in order to avoid dripping.

Procedure to replace unloading tank
When maximum level is reached, the alarm stops formalin flux.

Proceed as follows:
1. Disconnect sensor connector, placed on black cable of the cap.

This operation will stop acoustic alarm.
2. Turn sphere valve lever anticlockwise to block formalin flux.
3. Unhook PVC connector pushing the button.
4. Unscrew the cap anticlockwise.
5. Replace the tank and do inverse operations.
Never grip caps hermetically in order to avoid vacuum and pressure,

that could deform tanks.
To stop acoustic alarm, disconnect connectors on black cable of the

unloading cap.

6.0 Maintenance and cleaning
6.1 Ordinary maintenance

Ecos trim doesn’t need particular maintenance. It is very important clean
constantly surfaces to avoid that limestone and other substances slip in steel
microslits.
Check constantly formalin and water unloadings to avoid obstructions.

6.2 Filter replacement
Replacement is not complex but it should be

done by qualified user or Diapath technician.
1.Lower completely the shutter.
2.Lift the door.
3. Unscrew panel of motor block with an allen

spanner (hexagonal).
4. Unscrew filter screws.
5. Take out carefully filters.

(! Attention: filters weight 10Kg).
6. Replace filters. Be sure to place them

correctly.
7. Fix the two filtering units.
8. Close panel.
9. Close the door.

6.4 Fuses replacement
Before replacement, be sure that instrument is unplugged
Ecos trim Inox is equipped with 3 fuses:

- 2 of 16 A (6,3 x 32F) on side.
- 1 of 4 A (5 x 20F) on motor block.
To replace fuses of 16 A it is enough to unscrew 1
fuses holders. (Fig. 1-2-3)
To replace fuses of 4 A, open the box where fuses
are placed. (Fig. 4-5-6-7)

6.5 Cleaning
- During cleaning, it is better to disconnect instrument.
- The use of AISI 304 stainless steel guarantees a great resistance to water
aggressions.. However it is indispensable to use suitable detergents. Wipe
cloth glazingwise.
- To eliminate signs, scratches, limestone use the equipped sponge glazingwise.
- Buttons on control panel are sealed with a membrane. Use sometimes a
soft cloth to clean them.
- Clean transparent surfaces with non-abrasive clothes.
