Introduction

Introduction
This installation note provides information on installing a disk drive to an existing M3154
LC2000 DataBase Server (DBS) system.

Kit Contents
The upgrade kit contains the following material:

Upgrade Procedures
The upgrade procedure is presented in three sections:

• Adding a disk drive


• Changing Configuration parameters
• Software upgrade/changes

Warning All patient data on the DBS will be lost as a result of this upgrade.
Be sure to create a new archive of the DBS configurations prior to adding a disk drive.

Adding a Perform the following steps to add a disk drive.


Disk Drive
Step 1. Unlock the Disk Drive Bay. Do not overturn or force the key.

Step 2. Notify all users that their Information Centers and Clients will reboot into Local
mode.

Note All patient data on the DBS will be lost as a result of this upgrade.

Warning Place every device in local mode, stop central monitoring and go into service mode before
continuing.

Step 3. Select Archive from the Configuration Toolbar at the DBS Service menu and create a
new archive floppy disk. This will be used later during the installation/configuration
procedure of the DBS.

Step 4. Select Shutdown from the Services Toolbar at the DBS Service Menu, and select
Shutdown Normal. The Shutdown Server Warning screen displays.

Step 5. Select the Shutdown option and click OK.

Step 6. When Shutdown has stored all necessary data, power down the server by lifting the
server controls cover and pressing the white (left) button.

Step 7. Remove the blank Disk Drive insert from the next available slot.

Step 8. Carefully insert the new disk drive. (Note the warnings on the disk drive installation
instructions.)

Step 9. Once the disk drive is in place, lock the drive bay and restore power to the system
with the white button.

During the power restoration cycle, NetRAID firmware initializes. When the Net RAID
message “Option: experienced users may press Ctrl-M for HP Net RAID Express
Tools now” appears on the screen:

Restoring Step 1. Press the keyboard Ctrl-M keys simultaneously to enter the Net RAID Express
RAID Tools application.
Configurations
Step 2. Delete current RAID configurations as follows:

a. Select Configure in the Management Menu using the up/down arrow keys and
press Enter.

b. Select Clear Configuration and Yes, and then Enter to clear the RAID
configuration.

Step 3. Setup the Logical Drive as follows:

a. Select Configure in the Management Menu and press Enter.

b. Select View/Add/Delete Configuration and Enter to bring up the View/Add


Configuration ARRAY SELECTION MENU.

c. Select (highlight) one of the RAID disks in the CHANNEL-0 window, verify that
its state is Ready, and press the keyboard Spacebar.

d. Repeat verification of the Ready state for each of the RAID disks.

e. Repeat the process to verify that all RAID disks are ONLIN. Press the Enter key
to EndArray.

f. Press the keyboard F10 key to start the configuration process.

g. Select RAID in the Logical Drive 0 window and Enter.

h. Select RAID level 5 and Enter.

i. Select Accept in the Logical Drive 0 window and Enter to accept the new
settings

j. Select Accept in the Logical Drive 1 window and Enter to accept the new
settings

k. Select YES in answer to Save Configuration? and Enter to save the settings.

l. Press Enter

m. Press the keyboard Esc key until the Management Menu reappears.

Step 4. Verify the Write Policy settings as follows:

a. Select Objects in the Management Menu and Enter.

b. Select Logical Drive and Enter.

c. Select Properties and Enter.

d. Select Write Policy and Enter.

e. Select WRBACK and Enter.

f. Press the keyboard Esc key until the Object Menu appears.

Step 5. Verify the SCSI Transfer Rate settings as follows:

a. Select SCSI Channel in the Object Menu and Enter.

b. Select Channel 0 and Enter.

c. Select SCSI Transfer Rate and Enter.

d. Select ULTRA-3 and Enter.

e. Press the keyboard Esc key until the Management Menu appears.

Step 6. Verify disk settings as follows:

a. Select Initialize in the Management Menu and Enter.

b. Select Logical Drive 0 and press the keyboard Spacebar.

c. Press the keyboard F10 key to start the initialization.

d. Select YES in answer to Initialize Drive? and Enter.

e. Press any keyboard key when the prompt appears at the bottom of the screen.

Step 7. Press the keyboard Esc key to return to the Management Menu.

Step 8. Press the Esc key again.

Step 9. Select YES in answer to Exit? and Enter.

Step 10. Follow the appropriate software installation procedures provided in the M3150BU-
#C20 upgrade to install and configure the latest version of the NT OS and the DBS
Application software. These instructions are also in the Database Server Installation and
Service Manual.

medical devices. It carries CE-marking to the European Medical Device Directive
accordingly.

Philips The HP Workgroup NetServer, display, LaserJet printer, UPS, switch, repeater, and media
Hardware translators comply with IEC 60950, CISPR 22 Level A, and EN 50082-1. They carry CE-
marking to the European Low Voltage and EMC Directives.

Warning Philips system components are not suitable for installation in the Patient Care Vicinity
(Patient Environment).
