Agency: CSWDO Tagum
Activities:
Ma'am Jovelyn L. Caberto, RSW conducted an orientation to the rules and regulations of
Tagumpay Sagop Bata Center. She also discussed the agency's history, such as the year it
began operations and the types of clients they handled and allowed the other two SFWs to
choose their clients for case studies because the other four had already been completed. Also,
let the clients sign for their attendance and daily meal which will be submitted to CSWDO. The
Student Field Workers (SFWs) met in the afternoon to plan an activity for the children of the
center that will take place soon. The meeting includes a discussion about what specific things to
do to help students develop values and attitudes.
Problems/ Difficulties Encountered:
Maám Jovelyn L. Caberto, RSW allowed me to choose another client for my case study
because my client will be discharged soon. The second client I chose is a deaf-mute who
communicates through sign language. Hearing that made me nervous because I don't know
sign language and it will be difficult to learn it to collect the information needed for the case
study. Furthermore, it is a bit difficult because I have two clients in the center since the loads of
responsibilities and tasks that need to be done are being added. The other client is a child, and I
know that I have to make sure that I don’t cause any negative feelings to her or take her back to
the feelings she got when the abuse was done.

Learning Insights:
Supervisors’ Notes:

I am now familiar with the rules and regulations of the center. They established rules in the
center to allow children to participate in various activities that will help them develop skills such
as household chores, cooking, communication, and many others. They also allow them to
develop attitudes such as respect for older people (Mano po) and obedience to their house
parents and social workers. Furthermore, because we will be dealing with cases of abused and
sexually abused children, I have learned the importance of adhering to and applying the
principles of the social work profession. It was difficult to establish rapport with all the children at
the center, but with proper engagement and the application of social work skills such as
communication, we were able to get them to talk with us as well. Because they all have different
cases, histories, and experiences, initiating communication with them differs from one another,
and keeping their differences in mind contributes to building rapport.
