Arushi - Empowering Differently-Abled

Individuals

Introduction

Arushi is a shining example of how an individual's extraordinary dream can lead to the formation of
an organization dedicated to transforming lives. Founded by Mr. Anil Mudgal, an avid cricketer,
Arushi represents a commitment to integrating differently-abled individuals into the heart of society.
At its core, Arushi believes that true development and empowerment can only be achieved through
the active participation of people in the process. Anil Mudgal's journey from an ordinary volunteer
working with visually impaired children to the visionary founder of Arushi exemplifies
resourcefulness, determination, and the power of dreams.

Founder: Mr. Anil Mudgal

Mr. Anil Mudgal, the founder of Arushi, is an
extraordinary individual whose passion for cricket
and compassion for the differently-abled led to the
creation of a transformative organization. An avid
cricketer, he started his journey as a humble
volunteer, visiting visually impaired children and
engaging in activities like reading to them, recording
audio cassettes, and even raising resources for their
education. These early experiences showcased his
resourcefulness and unwavering determination.
In 1992, Anil Mudgal, along with four like-minded
friends, took a monumental step by establishing
Arushi. His vision was to integrate differently-abled
individuals into mainstream society and empower
them to lead fulfilling lives. Anil firmly believed that true development and empowerment could only
occur through active participation.
His journey from a volunteer to the visionary founder of Arushi is a testament to the profound
impact that one individual's dream and determination can have on society. Under his leadership,
Arushi has grown into a nationally recognized organization, dedicated to advocating for the rights
and well-being of persons with disabilities. Anil Mudgal's legacy continues to inspire others to make
a difference in the lives of differently-abled individuals and to work towards creating a more
inclusive world.

Arushi's Vision and Mission

Arushi's vision is rooted in the aspiration of creating a society where differently-abled individuals can
lead fulfilling lives, participating fully in all aspects of society while enjoying equal rights and
opportunities. To achieve this profound vision, Arushi has outlined a comprehensive mission that
serves as a guiding light:
 Inculcating Self-Confidence through Education and Training: Arushi recognizes that
education and skill development are pivotal in building self-confidence among differently-
abled individuals. The organization strives to provide quality education tailored to the
specific needs of each student, ensuring that no one is left behind.
 Linking Persons with Disability with Developmental Schemes: Recognizing the importance
of government and non-government programs in enhancing the quality of life for persons
with disabilities, Arushi actively connects them to these schemes, acting as a bridge to
opportunities and support.
 Creating a Forum for Expression and Advocacy: Arushi provides a platform for differently-
abled individuals to voice their concerns and advocate for their rights. This empowers them
to actively participate in decision-making processes that impact their lives.
 Disseminating Information: Information is a potent tool for empowerment. Arushi ensures
that persons with disabilities have access to information about rehabilitation and support
services, enabling them to make informed choices.
 Professional Training: Trained professionals play a critical role in supporting impaired
individuals in their journey towards integration. Arushi takes steps to develop a cadre of
professionals equipped to work with differently-abled individuals effectively.
 Creating Awareness in Society: Changing societal attitudes and perceptions towards
disability is an ongoing mission for Arushi. By fostering a positive attitude in society, the
organization strives to eliminate stigmas and biases.
 Creating a Barrier-Free Environment: Arushi is committed to making public spaces and
facilities more accessible to persons with disabilities. This includes advocating for physical
and social barriers to be removed, thereby enhancing mobility and accessibility.
