The benefits of using social media are clear. But it's also important to be
aware of the risks. The rest of this guidance will help you with this.
Facebook lets you fine-tune your privacy settings to choose exactly who
can see your posts. You can also control how easily others can find your
profile.
Twitter allows you to make your tweets private, visible only to users you
approve.
A good rule is never to share or reveal anything on social media that you
wouldn’t be happy to see printed in a newspaper.

Managing disagreements
If you see something or receive a message that you don’t like, try to keep
things respectful. Quote facts to correct misinterpretations or ignore the
post and unfollow the user if necessary.
Trolling
Don’t feed the trolls. Most of the time they will go away if you don’t give
them your time or attention.

It's illegal to threaten or harass someone online. The police should take it

information about harassment and your rights.
There are many benefits to using social media, but the legal
consequences of improper use can be serious.
You could run into legal issues like defamation or contempt of court. Use
caution and common sense and read further guidance from the BMA and
GMC if you need to.
