Module 21:
Draft

Social media has been both a blessing and a curse for anyone that uses it. It helps you
stay connected with your friends and family. It entertains you. Sometimes, it even teaches
you. However, every good thing comes with its bad side. Social media can be the
gateway for narcissism, self-pity, self-harm, reduced self-worth, and worst of all, death.
Social media is a dangerous place to be in.

Social media is a dangerous place for children to be in. They have impressionable
minds that copy whatever they see. Take the case of a challenge called the “Blackout
chalenge”. From an article in the Asian Parent, a 4 year old almost died from hanging herself
because of the aforementioned challenge.

Cyberbullying is a common occurance, especially in social media. It has become

more prevalent since the advent of the internet. People that are affected by this have
degraded wolrd views and are likely to kill themselves.

The term “clout” is a new term coined by both millenials and gen z referring to
people that seek fame and fortune on social media. Dangerous trends that are
referenced in this essay were started by these clout chasers.

Social media can be dangerous, but that doesn’t have to be the case. Regulations
should be put in place to prevent anything dangerous from happening because of social
media
