Sample Answer to PART 1

1. What do you think is the best age to learn driving?

Personally speaking, the ultimate time to learn driving is around 25 years of age, as the brain is
fully developed at this stage and the body is young and supple enough to be able to respond with
sharp reflexes. In addition, at this age, confidence and desire to learn driving may be strong, too.

2. How do you feel about getting older?

7
I think it is normal to grow old. Somehow, getting older makes me more confident. I think it is
partly because I enjoy being exactly who I am without actually caring about what anyone else
thinks. Now I simply don’t have time for the haters or doubters. I feel like time is too precious to
waste.

3. Should we treat people of different ages in the same way?

I don’t think we should treat people of different ages in exactly the same way. People of different
ages have different needs. For example, some elderly people may not be able to keep up with the
development of technology. So, I think we should offer more personalized service to people of
different ages.

Sample Answer to PART 2

I would like to talk about a family that I am very close to. It’s my uncle’s family. His family has two
daughters who are around the same age as me and they live in the same community as us.

Therefore, I usually drop in to his house to play with them. At times, we bake some cakes and take
them to our grandparents’ house; then we have an overnight sleep there. Besides, we often hang out
together, especially at the weekends just to enjoy ourselves so as to get ready for a new week.

Their parents, I mean my uncle and aunt, are very warm-hearted, and they both work as college
teachers. So, whenever I run into difficulties with my homework, I usually turn to them for help. I
remember when I was small, I used to live in my uncle’s house and they looked after me as if I had
been their daughter. Hence, our relationships are out of this world. Although now, we don’t have
much time together like before.

But on special occasions such as the Spring Festival, we will gather at my grandparents’ house to make
dumplings, enjoy a firework performance as well as give New Year’s greetings to each other. As a final

point, I hope that we can maintain this close relationship forever.

Sample Answer to PART 3

1. Is family important in your country?
Yes. Family happiness is highly valued in our country. For many people, family is the only consistent
relationship they have throughout their lives. Many people consider their family members to be the
most trustworthy and reliable people, because family members understand their history and
therefore understand them best.
2. Which do you prefer, support from family members or friends? Why?
I think friends may be more important than family members, especially as we age. We may be
open to our family but in some cases, we don’t want to share some matters with family members.
At that time, we may go for a friend and share the matter. Friends are those with whom we can
share anything without fear. Also, I choose friends because they are growing with me while my
family has their own lives and they don’t really get involved in my life.
3. How has the size of the family changed over the past few years in your country?
In general, I think the size of the family has decreased over the past few years. Although the
government encourages childbearing, many people are reluctant to have more children, because
people have realized that it’s difficult to provide good living conditions to a large family. So, it's

better to keep the family small.
