    KUMIHIMO l Japanese Braiding Workshop for Teams


    In this new and exciting creative workshop, you will practice slowing down and learn the
    Japanese art of Kumihimo braiding. In this workshop you will be introduced to the
    modern kumihimo wheel and master the art of interlacing strands of threads through a
    guided braid-along process to make a braided rope for a souvenir bracelet, a charm, a
    keychain or a simple gift wrapping cord.

    This creative activity is perfect for beginners without any weaving or braiding skills.

    Kumihimo is a Japanese word that means “gathered thread”. It is a traditional Japanese


    artform of making braids and cords that was first used for decorating Buddhist scrolls
    and other artifacts. Later, it was used to bind together Samurai armours and Kimonos. It
    has since evolved into a modern craft popular for making tourist souvenir necklaces,
    bracelets and even as wall art in stylish design.
