I had a request from a good friend to make a crochet ice cream cone keychain... how can I
refuse?? These are so fun and quick! Perfect pool side project, don't you think? These little
crochet key chains would be so cute on a little back pack or bag, too! Or leave off the chain and POPULAR

you have a cute pretend ice cream cone!

You will need:

worsted weight scrap yarn in tan and your favorite color
key chains
or these lanyard hooks would be great for backpacks and bags!
2.75 hook
Polyfil

These cute crochet key chains are about 3 inches tall! I think they would be a great gift, or
perfect to sell at a craft fair! Or just for yourself 😉 Either way, you will have so much fun, you
won't stop until you have made one in every color!

The only place I found the rings with the chains attached was on Amazon here.

This is a perfect project for scrap yarn or those half skeins. I recently got this yarn winder and I
LOVE it. Seriously a game changer if you want to organize your stash. And it is so nice to crochet
from a cake than a messy skein.

Ready to make you own ice cream cone key chain?

Round 1: 6 SC in a magic circle
Round 2: SC in each around (6)
Round 3: SC INC in each around (12)
Round 4-5: SC in each around (12)
Round 6: SC in the first, SC INC in the next. Repeat around. (18)
Rounds 7-8: SC in each around. (18)
Round 9: SC in first two, SC INC in the next. Repeat around. (24)
Round 10-11: SC in each around. (24)
Switch to ice cream color.
Rounds 12-16: SC in each around.
Round 17: SC in the first two, INV DEC in the next. Repeat around. (18)
Round 18: SC in the first, INV DEC in the next. Repeat around. (12)
Round 19: INV DEC in each around. (6)

Make sure to stuff the top as well as you can (use your stuffing stick to make it through the
small hole). Fasten off and sew the top closed. Using the yarn tail, sew on the key chain through
the bottom loop. Then weave the end through the top (don't pull too tight or it will make
puckers.)

Now turn it so the tip of the cone is pointing up and away from you. Attach yarn the same color
as the ice cream part to the point where you changed the color from cone to ice cream. Chain 2.
DC around each stitch following the bottom portion of the ice cream. Slip stitch to the first
stitch and fasten off. Weave in ends.

And there you have it- a crochet ice cream key chain! If you make a few, be sure to share some
pictures in The Friendly Crochet Club on Facebook!
