Some people think that the best way to improve road safety is to increase the

minimum legal age for driving a car or motorbike. To what extent do you agree or
disagree?

In recent years, road accidents have become a persistent problem among residents. Among
numerous solutions to this issue, many people only assume that the best way is to raise the
minimum driving age for cars or motorbikes. Personally, I disapprove of this idea because of
various reasons.
On the one hand, it is undeniable that limiting the age for driving is quite effective to some
extent. This is predicated on the fact that this measure can prevent young teenagers, who
are unaware of the dangers on the road, from being involved in a crash. As a result, the
street will be a safer place due to the disappearance of young reckless drivers. However,
this line of reasoning is not sound as it fails to factor the other participants of the road. Apart
from the young, there are still numerous older drivers who contribute to the rise in traffic
accidents such as some drunk seniors. If the authorities only concern the age limit, the
terrible situation will continue without respite.
On the other hand, there are myriad solutions to improve traffic which are much better than
age limiting. For example, the government should invest more resources on educating and
raising people’s awareness about how to drive safely. Therefore, more drivers will be well-
informed of traffic rules while the chances for an accident will be eradicated. In addition,
there should be more highways instead of intersections constructed so as to reduce the
collisions among vehicles. That is because when the road is straight ahead instead of
curling, drivers will be able to control their cars or motorbikes easily, which means no more
crashes taking place.
In conclusion, limiting the age for driving cars and motorbikes can only solve a small aspect
of the traffic problems. To completely avoid traffic accidents, the government and relevant
premises should take actions such as spending on educating drivers or constructing the
straight roads.

In recent times, there has been a growing prevalence of vehicle accidents among the
local community. Among the myriad of proposed remedies to this issue, a prevailing
viewpoint posits that the optimal approach involves increasing the minimum age
requirement for operating automobiles or motorcycles. From my perspective, I have a
negative stance against this theory due to a multitude of factors.
On one side, it is indisputable that implementing age restrictions for driving has
shown to be somewhat beneficial. This assertion is based on the premise that
implementing this policy has the potential to mitigate the involvement of
inexperienced adolescents, who lack awareness of road hazards, in vehicular
collisions. Consequently, the overall safety of the roadway will be enhanced as a
direct consequence of the absence of young drivers who exhibit irresponsible
behaviorbehaviour. Nevertheless, this line of reasoning lacks soundness since it
neglects to consider the presence of other road users. In addition to younger
individuals, a considerable number of elderly drivers also play a role in the escalation
of traffic accidents, including instances involving intoxicated senior citizens. If the
authorities just prioritize the age restriction, the dire situation will persist without
reprieve.
Conversely, there are several other approaches to enhance traffic conditions that
surpass the efficacy of implementing age restrictions. For instance, it is
recommended that the government allocate more resources towards enhancing
educational initiatives and increasing public consciousness onof safe driving
practices. Consequently, increased driver awareness of traffic regulations will result
in a reduction in accident occurrences. Furthermore, it is recommended that the
construction of additional roadways be prioritized over junctions in order to reduce
the occurrence of vehicular incidents. This is due to the fact that when the road
maintains a linear trajectory rather than curving, drivers will experience enhanced
maneuverability, resulting in a reduction in the occurrence of collisions.
In summary, implementing age restrictions for operating automobiles and
motorcycles can only address a limited portion of the broader traffic issues. In order
to effectively mitigate traffic accidents, it is essential for the government and related
entities to implement measures such as investing in driver education programs and
developing well-designed road infrastructure.
