1. The cuff on Sam’s long-sleeved shirt sleeve caught on fire. He ran to show his instructor. Identify and
correct the unsafe things that Sam did.

 Sam is not wearing a proper attire in the laboratory; she must not wear long sleeves that are too
loose. It is correct to consult our professor but she shouldn’t run instead she must do it in a calm
manner.

 It is important to clean and dry the equipment and apparatuses before and after using because
contaminated and wet equipment might result to inaccurate results in the laboratory. Additionally,
there might be some chemicals left in the equipment which might react to another substances.

II. Using your own word answer the questions in each scenario.

1. List 3 unsafe activities depicted in this illustration and explain how they should be altered to make
them safe.

 Mac is pointing the heated test tube with chemical to Jodi, he should point the test tube away
from himself and other people.

 Jodi did not tie her hair; he should wear proper laboratory clothing and goggles additionally
she should stay slightly further from the burner.

 Kimberly uses the fire extinguisher, she must use the emergency fire blanket instead, the one
using it should be knowledgeable to use it properly.
2. List 3 unsafe activities depicted in this illustration and explain how they should be altered to make them
safe.

 Two people are playing around, they must behave properly since they can bump to any
chemicals, equipment, or even other people inside the laboratory.

 Food and drinks are inside the laboratory, it should be kept out of the laboratory.

 There are materials scattered on the floor that can trip other people, the floor should be kept
clear of such materials.
