Task:

Write your experience or insights on how the youth today shows confidence and interest in
using their mother tongue. Do the youth still value the language they were brought up with?
Explain your answer.

From the poem of Dr. Jose Rizal “to my fellow children”, it played an important role
or lesson for the children of the Philippines during the Spanish colonization as it seems that
the Filipino knows more and obeys the Spaniards law and culture, they forgot their Filipino
identity or essence. In this poem it conveys for the Filipino or the person to cherish their
own language, identity and freedom, by cherishing these will we know what’s important for
our own lives.

From my own insights most of the youths especially in provinces shows confidence
in speaking their mother tongue, It especially brings happiness when they encounter
someone who speaks the common language and have chat over little things in common
livings. I can say that Filipino still cherish and have confidence in our own identity especially
in my experience when I was playing an online multi-player game, when someone insult
that the Filipinos, the Filipino players and also some who are not retorted back and
protected our own identity as Filipino. This also proves that Filipinos have confidence and
values their own Identity.
