Lesson Plan in Music 9

Content Standard: The learner understanding of characteristic features of Classical

period music.

Performance Standard: The learner sings and performs themes of symphonies and

other instrumental forms.

Learning Competency: The learner explains the performance practice (setting,

composition, role of composers/performers, and audience) during Classical period.

I. Learning Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, 95% of Grade 9 - Cypress class will be able to:
a) identify the different composers and their works during the Classical
Period;
b) listen attentively on the different recordings and works of the different
composers; and
c) present a 2 minute drama in a silent form using classical music.

II. Subject Matter:


Topic: Music of the Classical Period
Refer.: Badiola, M. et. al, (2014). Learner’s Material for Music and Arts. Pasig
City: Vibal Group, Inc. pp. 36-51.
Materials: Visual Aids, Speakers, Pictures

A. Activity
“Your Sound looks Familiar”
 The students will be divided into four groups, and prepare ½
crosswise.
 The teacher will prepare different Classical Music and played it to
the class.
 All members of the group will cover their eyes with their hands or
handkerchief every time there’s a music playing and listen
attentively. After listening to it, they will write their observation or
provide a description.
 Each group then will choose a music that really got their heart and
explain why they chose it.
 After, the teacher will call some members of the group to
synthesize what they’ve just listened.

 What do you feel about our activity? Why?
 Did you heard it before? Where?
 Is there something story that the music wanted to convey?
 Does the music being played composed of a single instrument? Or two or
more?
 Which music do you like? What number? Why?

 Differentiate the 3 Vocal and Instrumental Music of the Classical
Period.
 What re the characteristics of the Classical Music?
D. Application
“Silent Mode Drama”
 On the same group, the students will present a two minute silent
drama and use the Classical Music that they’ve chose on the first
activity as the background music.
 They will choose different scenarios of their choice.
 There will be 1 point deduction if they will exceed on the given 2
minute time.
 They are given 7 minutes to prepare and present in front after.
 The will be graded based on the following criteria:
