SUMMARY

1. A middle school teacher in Texas was recorded telling students that he believes his race is
superior. The incident, which occurred at Bohls Middle School near Austin, was captured on
video and shared on social media. In the video, the teacher admitted to being racist, claiming
that everyone is racist at some level. Some students challenged his views, and two Black
students expressed their loss of respect for him. The school district superintendent called the
conversation inappropriate and unacceptable, stating that such behavior would not be
tolerated. The teacher, who has not been identified, was subsequently fired, and the school
district is actively seeking a replacement. Parents, students, and the community expressed
outrage over the incident, emphasizing the importance of a safe and inclusive learning
environment in schools.
2. Anyone they perceive to be of Asian descent, especially Chinese people, is claimed as the
source of COVID-19 due to the knowledge that the virus first originated in China. They face
attacks and bullying. Asian people not only experience physical assaults but also verbal bullying,
such as being called dirty, virus carriers, and assumed to be COVID-19 just because of their
ethnicity. This is one of the forms of racism occurring in a specific country. Facing discrimination
and bullying due to their race is part of the hatred they harbor.

This attitude is deeply regrettable because the COVID-19 virus does not recognize racial or ethnic
boundaries. Discrimination and bullying against Asians, particularly Chinese people, are unjust
and inhumane acts. It is crucial for all of us to stand against prejudice and racism, understanding
that this pandemic requires solidarity and support.
