Business Communication

How to communicate in a professional setting?

Chap-01
What is
Communication?
Communication is all about sharing information
through speech, writing or some other medium.

For instance, television is an excellent tool for

communication.
Why do we need
comunication?
Communication is the secret sauce that brings us
closer to people and sucess, letting us spill the beans
about our experiences and needs while forging real
connections. It's the juicy core of existence, helping us
dish out feelings, swap information, and exchange
ideas.
What are the soft skills?
Soft skills are like the glue that holds together a person's social interactions and
character. Think of them as a companion to hard skills (the know-how you need to do a
job).
Fun fact: sociologists might call these people skills "emotional intelligence quotient"
(EQ), which is separate from the typical "intelligence quotient" (IQ).

Examples of soft skills include the ability to communicate with prospective clients, mentor
your co-workers, lead a team, negotiate a contract, follow instructions, and get a job done
on time.

Characteristics of Formal Two-
Way Communication Networks

This type of communication

allows for immediate feedback.

It follows a formal structure.

Circuit Network
In a circuit network, two people communicate
with one another. For instance, when Mr. 'A'
sends a message to Mr. 'B', Mr. 'B' responds
with feedback to Mr. 'A'.
This creates a cycle of communication,
forming a circuit.
Thus, this network is referred to as the circuit
network. It is similar to the vertical network,
but unlike in the vertical network, 'A' and 'B'
do not need to be in a superior-subordinate
relationship.
Chain Network
Organizational Communication Network Based on
Hierarchy and Chain of Command

In an organizational structure, communication

follows a specific chain of command.
Superiors provide instructions or commands to
their subordinates.

In this hierarchy, individuals B, C, D, and E report to

A and receive their commands from A. Similarly,
individuals F and G report to E and receive their
commands from E.
Wheel Network
Here all subordinates receive
commands from one superior. This is
highly centralized type of
communication network where each
subordinate receives commands or
instructions from a single authority
or superior ‘A’ and wants the
immediate feedback.
Star Network
The Star Communication Network:
Facilitating Effective Communication
and Teamwork in group settings
where teamwork is integral.
The Star Communication Network is a
must-have tool for exchanging
information and keeping everyone in
the loop. This network allows all group
members to communicate with one
another openly and without
hesitation.
