1. Vitamin Regimen. A physical education director claims by taking a special vitamin, a weight lifter
can increase his strength. Eight athletes are selected and given a test of strength, using the standard
bench press. After 2 weeks of regular training, supplemented with the vitamin, they are tested again.
Test the effectiveness of the vitamin regimen at a = 0.05. Each value in these data represents the
maximum number of pounds the athlete can bench-press. Assume that the variable is approximately
normally distributed.

2. Household Size. Nationally, the average household size is 4.1 people per household. A random
sample of families in the City of Panabo resulted in the following family sizes below. Test at a = 0.05
if the family sizes in Panabo City is significantly lower than the national average.

3. Medical School Enrollments. A random sample of enrollments from medical schools that
specialize in research and from those that are noted for primary care is listed below. Determine if
there is a difference between the average enrollments in research and primary care at a = 0.05.
