Assignment 2 involves legal research. It is valued at 40% of the unit grade. The research paper is
intended to assist students in obtaining all listed learning outcomes and graduate attributes.

Due date extension for assignments will be granted only in an exceptional circumstance. If something
exceptional arises that requires an extension you should contact the Unit Coordinator before the due
date. Late submissions which have no agreed due date extension will have 10% of allocated marks
deducted per day. Reasons which are insufficient to warrant an extension include computer failures,
transportation difficulties, work conflicts and other study commitments.

The mark for your assignment will be determined by reference to the quality of its analysis, its clarity
and organisation, and its presentation, including its freedom from distracting stylistic errors
(grammatical, spelling, punctuation and typographical).
Where appropriate, references should be made to legislation, cases, journal articles, texts and other
commentary.

Submission is via the LMS. Hard copy submissions are not acceptable. A marking guide can be found
below.

The length of this paper is 2000 words. Only the first 2000 words will be read and marked. No cover
sheet is required; however, your word count needs to be included on your front page. Referencing
should be Chicago or APA style. The Library provides a citation guide at
