Essay

Education is a bone of contention in today's society. With the development of advanced

technology, many people tend to believe that teaching in lecture halls is a traditional
method, which should be replaced by online learning. From my perspective, this argument
is justified on the ground of the two following reasons.

First and foremost, students can learn more effectively through online teaching than the
conventional method. Online courses provide students with full control over their studying,
which means that they can follow their speed. Studying at schools may hinder students'
track as they have to follow their teacher's and counterparts' pace, which sometimes
unsuitable with their ability. In contrast, online learning grants them the opportunity to
efficiently their studying progress basing on their capability. To breed, BM has found that
participants learn five times more material in online learning courses using multimedia
content than in traditional face to face courses. This telling example proves the
effectiveness of studying online.

Another reason why I choose online lessons in lieu of face-to-face teaching is that this
technological method is more convenient and flexible. Through studying online, students
can save time spent traveling back and forth to colleges and invest which on their studying.
More importantly, this learning style allows them to study through a screen, which means
as long as students have an electronic device with an internet connection, they can learn
wherever and whenever they want. Additionally, unlike fixed schedule at schools, distant
courses provide an adjustable timetable, so that learners can arrange their lessons which fit
their work and life.

Some opponents of this view say that teaching at educational institutions is no longer a
conventional way because this method provides mutual interactions between students and
teachers. However, today's fast-develop technologies also allow learners to connect with
their lecturers through video calls or instant messages, which may be even quicker than the
traditional way. That's why my point still stands.

To conclude, the enormous benefits brought about by teaching online definitely

outweigh the traditional way. I firmly believe that face-to-face should be replaced by the
technological teaching method.
